Recently, Netflix hit anime fans and otakus with the trailer of Cannon Busters. The creator of this anime is LeSean Thomas. This anime is a 10 episode series. According to polygon – “Cannon Busters follows an unlikely trio: there’s Philly the Kid, an immortal outlaw; S.A.M., an aggressively upbeat friendship droid, and Casey Turnbuckle, a maintenance droid. Traveling in Philly the Kid’s shape-shifting Cadillac, the trio embark in search of S.A.M.’s best friend, the missing prince of a besieged kingdom.”
Even the creator LeSean Thomas describes the series as follows- “The Wizard of Oz meets Hidden Fortress with a dash of Escaflowne + Hip Hop and classic RPGs — all rolled into one ride of fun, suspense, action & wackiness.”
Prominent critic- geek describes the series saying “Cannon Busters is a tale of transforming pink Cadillacs, robot royalty in the land of Gearbolt, and an immortal renegade named Philly the Kid.”
Cannon Busters was created as a comic by LeSean Thomas in 2005 soon after which he became a storyboard artist. His vast contribution comes as a costume designer of the animated series – The Boondocks and Black Dynamite on Adult Swim. LeSean Thomas also contributed to Nickelodeon’s Avatar continuation called The Legend of Korra. Later on, he collaborated with Crunchyroll on the Child Of Ether.
According to polygon, Cannon Busters’ original anime adaptation was set to release in 2014. That was then shifted to 2017 then 2018 and now finally in 2019, it will see the light of day.
The plot of Cannon Busters
The official producer of Cannon Busters is Kickstarter. ” Follow the adventures and exploits of S.A.M, a high-end, royal-class friendship droid who’s joined by a quirky, discarded maintenance robot and a brash, deadly fugitive. Together, the unlikely trio embarks on an unforgettable journey in a fantastic and dangerous world in search of S.A.M’s best friend, the heir to a powerful kingdom under siege.
