Watch all Pokemon Seasons, Movies, and Specials in the Best Order

From Gen Z to millennials, everyone is united by the catchy melody of “Pokemon!, Gotta catch ’em all.” Almost everyone has grown up watching Pokemon, which can easily be called the most widely-known anime ever.

The downside to an anime that has been actively airing new episodes since 1997 is the massive amount of episodes. Ever noticed how there’s a different format to the anime every few months? Yep, that’s how Pokemon has held onto its audience with its evergreen protagonist Ash, who undertakes a new tournament every season.

So far, Pokemon has aired a total of 25 seasons that span over 1200+ episodes. It has also received 24 movies. Of course, a franchise this big isn’t devoid of ONAs, specials, and other installments, all of which we will cover in this article.

Whether you want to take a trip down memory lane or want a comfort anime that will keep you company for a long time, Pokemon is a perfect choice. So don’t be shy, and let me guide you through this wonderful world filled with innumerable fantasy beasts.

5. Is it necessary to watch Pokemon seasons and movies in order?

Absolutely not. It isn’t necessary to watch all Pokemon seasons in order because, in every season, Ash participates in a new tournament and starts from scratch.

You can even watch the movies randomly or after you have finished all the episodes. The movies are mostly canon and deal with separate adventures with legendary Pokemons that rarely occur in the seasons.

Since most of us have watched the anime growing up and are pretty much well-versed with the characters, and Pokemon is episodic in nature, you can start with any series you want. However, we would recommend starting from one of the pioneer seasons.

8. How much time will it take to complete Pokemon?

The most dreaded section is here, where I can make your eyeballs pop out of their sockets with the help of numbers. Just as you must have expected, Pokemon is a big series, and to complete it you will need quite a lot of time on your hands.

  • TV series – 30450 minutes (calculated till the latest episode of season 25)
  • Movies – 2113 minutes
  • ONAs – 328 minutes (including Pokemon: Hisuian Snow)
  • Specials – 750 minutes
  • Live-action adaptation – 104 minutes

All the Pokemon series, movies, specials, and ONAs will take around 562 hours and 25 minutes which amounts to 24 days of nonstop watching. Even if you are a crazed fan who adores the series and can sacrifice everything to binge-watch it, it might take a few months to complete realistically.

12. About Pokémon

Pokémon was first released in 1996 and is set up in a world where humans catch monsters and store them in pocket-sized poke-balls.

They are creatures with an affinity to certain elements and some superhuman abilities related to that element.

Revolving around a teenage boy Ash Ketchum, Pokémon takes us through his journey to becoming the most accomplished Pokémon trainer the world has ever seen.
