Vinland Saga Reveals Synopsis and Stills For Season 2 EP1 “Slave”!

Makoto Yukimura’s manga series “Vinland Saga” is ready to make its comeback on screens. The premiere of the second season is around the corner and nothing hypes this up more than a sneak peek, and an official one at that.

On Monday, the official website and Twitter for Vinland Saga anime revealed a few stills from the first episode of Season 2, titled “Slave”. They have also disclosed the synopsis of the episode.

The stills and the synopsis focus on the character Einar, a farmer living in Northern England whose life changes completely when Vikings attack his homeland. 

Crunchyroll has also revealed the synopsis of the second season. Thorfinn, who lost his purpose in life after the death of Askeladd, is brought in by Ketil, a landowner, He begins to work as a slave and meets Einar. Elsewhere, Canute, now the King of England, attempts to broaden his territory.

Vinland Saga will air on Tokyo MX, BS11, and GBS on January 10, 2023. Netflix and Crunchyroll will stream the series on the same day.

Vinland Saga is a Japanese historical manga series written and illustrated by Makoto Yukimura. The series is published under Kodansha in its monthly manga magazine – Monthly Afternoon – aimed at young adult men. It currently has 26 volumes in tankōbon format.

Vinland Saga is set in ancient Viking times, where a young Thorfinn’s life goes astray when his father Thors – a well-known retired warrior – is killed while on a journey.

Thorfinn then finds himself under the jurisdiction of his enemy – his father’s killer – and hopes to seek revenge on him when he grows stronger. The anime is loosely based on the expedition of Thorfinn Karlsefni in his search for Vinland.
