One Punch Man Anime’s Twitter Asks to be Wary of Misinformation

Popular franchises are bound to be the target of misinformation and false rumors, and One Punch Man is no exception.

Saitama might not give a damn about all the villains there are in the world, but he definitely cares about his fans being deceived by misinformation.

To prevent fans from being misled by false information, One Punch Man’s official Twitter handle has posted a notice regarding it.

The tweet was made in both English and Japanese and stated this is the only ‘official’ Twitter account for One Punch Man. It also mentioned not to be misled by information from unofficial accounts and that accurate details will be revealed on this platform when it’s time.

This fiasco likely happened because the famous leaker, Shonenleaks, recently said that MAPPA would animate One Punch Man’s third season. There was no official announcement after that, and this misinformation notice means that both MAPPA and the One Punch Man franchise deny any such update.

Considering that Shonenleaks’ tweet became viral to an unimaginable extent, both the company and the franchise had to take some action. This could have turned into something pretty bad had the franchise not cleared it up soon.

Therefore, we always ask everyone to wait for an announcement from official sources. Leaks may be fun and even reliable most of the time, but you can never trust them blindly.

They are called leaks for a reason and have no official source backing them up. So, the next time you share a post with leaked information, do keep this in mind that it might not come true.

As for One Punch Man anime’s third season, I hope the franchise gives us a solid update soon.

About One Punch Man

One-Punch Man is a Japanese superhero webcomic created by the artist One in early 2009. It has a manga adaptation illustrated by Yusuke Murata, as well as an anime adaptation. Following its publication, the webcomic quickly went viral, surpassing 7.9 million hits in June 2012.

On an unnamed Earth-like supercontinent planet, powerful monsters and villains have been wreaking havoc in the cities. To combat them, the world’s government created a Hero Association that employs superheroes to stop them. The heroes are ranked from Class C to Class S.

Saitama, an unassociated hero, hails from the metropolis of City-Z and performs heroic deeds for his own entertainment. He has trained himself to the point where he broke his “limit” and can effortlessly defeat any opponent with a single punch while slaying monsters the same way. But he is now bored with his omnipotence and frustrated by sensing he lacks a challenge.
