My Hero Academia has churned out heroes after heroes, each with their own specific quirks and personalities. However, the number one position (in our hearts at least) will always belong to the symbol of peace – All Might.
Since the very beginning, he has impressed the fans with his charisma and strength.
Helping people, saving the world, and teaching students how to be better heroes, makes All Might the perfect Hero, i.e., if such a thing exists. With tens of thousands of people relying on him, he has made sure not to betray their faith.
However, since his fight against All For One, All Might lost all his remaining power, and with his previous injuries acting up, he has lost the facade he’s been upholding for long.
From a sturdy, muscular hero who was the figure of hope, All Might has transformed into a skinny man with dark circles under his eyes that make us pity him.
What exactly is his true form? Is he as weak as he looks, or is All Might going to surprise us once again? Let’s take a look!
1. How Did All Might Transform? Can He Still Do That?
At one point in the series, All Might mentioned that he gains his muscular form because he’s flexing his muscles just like guys at the pool do.
Whether this was for gag purposes or not, this is the only explanation given to us regarding his transformation. However, there is a theory that he gained this form due to his Quirk, One for All.
After his fight and transference of power to Deku, All Might has truly lost all of his power. However, he can still transform, albeit only for a short time.
Despite losing his Quirk, the only reason All Might can return to his buffed-up state to give hope to civilians is because of the remnants of One for All running through his body.
Furthermore, since his body had once been muscular, he can return to that state for a short while by flexing them for a bit.
2. What Is All Might’s Original Form?
All Might’s original form stands as a direct contrast to his superhero form because compared to his commonly seen muscular and well-defined physique, All Might looks drastically skinnier and angular.
The loss of the extreme muscle mass that occurs when All Might reverts to his original form gives him the illusion of having slightly longer limbs than the usual person.
All Might’s abnormally gaunt figure is due to the damage his body sustains from ‘All For One.’ He’s said to have gone through multiple surgeries to reduce the effects of his injuries.
All Might’s original form is his skinny appearance, i.e., the one he had before acquiring One for All. After gaining that Quirk, he trained hard to build up his muscles and body to hold and control all 100 percent of it.
Because this transformation was a result of training, this can also be considered his original form.
I. Was He Always Skinny?
All Might was always skinny initially, as shown in the manga. However, after receiving One for All, his muscles were trained to receive 100% of One for All and, therefore, resulted in his buff muscular form.
However, All Might’s battle with All for One caused his stomach to collapse and his body to shrink over time.
Since All Might became muscular when One for All flooded his muscle fibers, his body returned to what it was, aka the thin state, after getting wounded by All for one and giving Deku his Quirk.
3. Was All Might Quirkless?
As we saw above, All Might transferred One for All to Midoriya and lost his buff form. However, fans wonder whether he has any remaining power as of now.
Many theories state that All Might still has his original Quirk, i.e., transformation, which helps him maintain his muscular state a while longer. However, that isn’t true.
All Might was quirkless before gaining One for All. Like Deku, he had no original power or Quirk and, currently, has simply returned to that state.
It can even be said that he is weaker than most in My Hero Academia at this moment, with his life itself in danger.
4. Can Eri Heal or Restore All Might?
Eri’s Quirk is Rewind. Shota Aizawa suggested that her Quirk can even rewind the bodies of those who have lost their Quirks and restore them.
There are many fans of the series who believe that All Might could be restored to his former power if Eri trains hard to refine her Quirk. However, the chances of this happening are meager.
Eri cannot heal or restore All Might because he has not lost his Quirk but transferred it to Deku. Due to this, there is no way for him to gain it back unless Deku wills it.
Furthermore, All Might’s story has already ended. My Hero Academia is about Deku’s reach to the top, and restoring All Might will conflict with this goal.
