Who’s the number one hero in OPM? Can he beat Saitama?

While Saitama has been shown as someone who is un-defeatable, there are still some who doubt this claim.

This is true, especially considering the fact that the number one hero of the Hero Association is absent and shrouded in mystery. Who exactly is this unknown man? Can he really defeat Saitama?

1. Quick Answer

Blast is the Number One S rank Hero in One Punch Man. Despite his identity shrouded in mystery, he is recognized as the best and the most powerful hero by the Hero Association.

In fact, Blast is even regarded to be stronger than Tatsumaki. He was also shown to deal with Elder Centipede when even the combined forces of 3 S-rank heroes were unable to do so in the present.

Furthermore, he’s regarded as the final solution to any threat to humanity and the Earth. Unfortunately, we still haven’t seen what he can actually do and based on his feats to date, he is not stronger than Saitama.

2. Who’s the Number One Hero in OPM?

Blast is the Number One S rank Hero in One Punch Man. Despite his identity shrouded in mystery, he is recognized as the best and the most powerful hero by the Hero Association.

Fubuki mentions that Blast is “the one at the top of all heroes”. Even Sitch says that Blast would only present himself if humanity is in peril and that he is deserving of the special treatment he receives.

3. Who is Blast?

Being the Number One ranked hero of the Hero Association. Much like Saitama, Blast describes fighting crime as a Hero to be a hobby and only turns up when it suits him or when humanity is genuinely in peril.

Two years ago, Blast was able to bring Elder Centipede, a Dragon level threat strong enough to combat the likes of Bang, Bomb, and Genos simultaneously, to the brink of death.

Although it should be noted that Elder Centipede was smaller and as such weaker when he first fought Blast, despite this, Gyoro Gyoro believed that Blast could still defeat Elder Centipede even in his current state.

However, after this incident, Blast was never seen in public again.

I. Has Blast retired?

In chapter 119 of the One Punch Manga, when Drive Knight asks whether Blast will appear if the Hero Association Headquarters is attacked, Sekingar says it is unlikely. He also states that Blast is more or less retired.

This makes sense when we consider that the last time he was seen was when he fought the Elder Centipede 2 years ago.

4. Is Blast stronger than Saitama?

Blast is the Number One S rank Hero in One Punch Man, and is recognized as the most powerful hero by the Hero Association but he is not stronger than Saitama. Saitama could beat Blast with just one punch.

Fubuki speculates that Blast can shoot lasers from his eyes, rule over psychic powers and command trillions of robots. She hypothesizes that he could beat the rest of the S-Class all at once.

Blast also defeated the ninja village leader, who is regarded as the most powerful ninja ever. Blast is also stated capable of defeating Flashy Flash, Speed-o’-Sound Sonic, and the entire Heavenly Ninja Party at once as if he were handling a child.

Even Tatsumaki – one of the most powerful characters shown to date – considers Blast to be more powerful than herself.

However, after looking at his current feats, he is much weaker than Saitama. We can conclude this by seeing that he could not kill Elder Centipede, who was weaker than its present self, whereas Saitama did not even take the monster seriously before defeating it.

Saitama is also shown as one of the only people who has broken their limiter and is the strongest character shown in the series.

One thing to note is that we still have not seen the full extent of Blast’s powers. The creators of the series might bring an exciting twist to the series by revealing Blast to be stronger than Saitama.

5. Are Blast and Saitama the same person?

Some fans speculate that Blast is Saitama. The main reason for this is that Saitama and Blast share the same motivations for becoming a Hero. Fans theorize that Saitama might be suffering from amnesia and thus doesn’t remember his past.

Thanks to his past, he managed to achieve his incredible superhuman strength with his training because his body remembers his battle experiences before losing his memory.

While this theory sounds plausible, it is not likely especially considering the timeline in which the events occur.

6. Is Blast Saitama from the future?

It is improbable for Blast to be Saitama from the future. The reason for this is the apparent difference in strength. Saitama has already broken his “limiter” and has potentially gained infinite power. He was even able to defeat the Elder centipede easily.

However, just two years ago, Blast had a hard time doing it. This should not be possible if he is Saitama from the future.

However, despite this theory not making sense, Blast’s continued absence in One-Punch Man season 2 is a strong indication that the character will have a significant impact on the series. There might be something connecting Blast and Saitama.

On an unnamed Earth-like supercontinent planet, powerful monsters and villains have been wreaking havoc in the cities. To combat them, the world’s government created a Hero Association that employs superheroes to stop them. The heroes are ranked from Class C to Class S.

Saitama, an unassociated hero, hails from the metropolis of City-Z and performs heroic deeds for his entertainment. He has trained himself to the point where he broke his “limit” and can effortlessly defeat any opponent with a single punch while slaying monsters the same way. But he is now bored with his omnipotence and frustrated by sensing he lacks a challenge.
