Unveiling the Enigma: Shinra’s Virgin Birth Explained.

A question frequently arises in the Fire Force Community: Who is Shinra’s father? It is a plausible question as we never see Shinra & Shous’ father in the anime.

Shinra and Shou don’t have a father. Their mother, Mari Kasukabe, had virgin births 17 years ago. The doctors ran many tests to check the authenticity of Mari’s claim, but all pointed in the direction that Mari was telling the truth.

But how is a virgin birth even possible? How does the Evangelist relate to all this, and was this always bound to happen? In this article, I answer these questions and more.

1. How Were Shinra and Shou Born?

In the manga’s chapter 230, Shou looks for information about the circumstances of his birth and the identity of his father.

When Shou went to the Shinjuku Community Centre, he met an old man who freely gave him all of his knowledge on Mari Kusakabe.

The person claimed that Mari Kusakabe gave birth to sons who purportedly had no father, which is an impossible medical miracle given the biology of the human body.

He gradually revealed that the Church of the Holy Sol had concealed the details of the Kusakabes’ birth, which ironically solidified the man’s story.

Shou then experienced an Adolla link with his infernal mother. She then told Sho about her past using her recollections. Sho discovered the truth about his birth circumstances through Mari’s memories.

He and Shinra were born virgins. Mari’s parents abandoned her as a result of this incident since she could not find her children’s father. Shinra and Sho didn’t have a father, but Mari’s parents seriously questioned this and disapproved of her.

2. The Untold Prophecy

Moments after Shinra was born, Mari’s doctor tells her about another Virgin Birth, one that took place a long time ago, the pre-cataclysmic period, to be exact.

He tells Mari about a woman that had a child before she was with her husband, the person that told that woman about her pregnancy was an angel (literally!)

The angel prophesied that the child would be born a hero and a savior that would one day go about saving the world from great despair.

Shou then summarized that, just like the evangelist is the culmination of humanity’s desire and despair. Shinra is the culmination of the humanities idea of a savior & hero.

But that wouldn’t explain why Shou is also of a virgin birth. The answer is that Shou was born as a guardian angel to Shinra. He was there to ensure Shinra didn’t take the path of evil.

3. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

I. Is Shinra related to God?

While Shinra isn’t related to God, he becomes a God by the end of the series, creating a whole new universe where death is more valuable than life itself.

II. Can Shinra Give Grace

Only Beings from Adolla can bestow grace upon another, but it is possible to form a link with someone that already possesses dignity to unlock 4th generation powers. As Shinra had a link with Shou, who had an adolla link with the Evangelist herself, he could bestow grace upon someone else.
