Where Was Netflix’s Deceitful Love Filmed? Locations Revealed

Netflix’s “Deceitful Love,” which is based on the British miniseries “Gold Digger,” centers on an unusual, passionate, and dishonest relationship between a wealthy woman and a much younger man. The Italian romantic drama series, originally called “Inganno,” introduces Gabriella, a wealthy and divorced woman celebrating her 60th birthday at her Amalfi Coast hotel.

She hopes to get to know Elia, a charming man in his 30s, but she can’t help but feel attracted to him immediately. Soon after, his car breaks down close to the hotel, and the two meet, fulfilling her wish.

After sensing a spark, they engage in a passionate romance despite their age difference. However, Gabriella’s three kids have misgivings about the new man in their mother’s life. She is stuck in a dilemma where she must decide between her new lover and her kids.

In “Deceitful Love,” Monica Guerritore, Giacomo Gianniotti, Emanuel Caserio, Dharma Mangia Woods, Francesco Del Gaudio, and Denise Capezza are among the talented Italian ensemble cast members who deliver outstanding on-screen performances. Viewers will inevitably have questions about the actual shooting locations because most of the story takes place on the Amalfi Coast.

According to reports, principal photography for the first iteration of the romantic series began in March 2023 and lasted for almost three months before ending in June of the same year. Positano

Most of Deceitful Love was filmed in the picturesque seaside village of Positano. The characters frequently take advantage of the city’s colorful alleyways and vivid blue water in the series.

Positano is the ideal seaside town to film in Deceitful Love because several scenes are set on the Amalfi coast. Additionally, the region has stunning rocky waterside backdrops that were probably used for the yacht scenes in the series.

The village appears in one of Episode 1’s opening shots, and the crew was also seen preparing in alleys close to the Angeloni Giancarlo gallery during filming.

Pozzouli, Naples

Pozzouli in Naples is another ideal location for filming because Monica’s hotel has a sea view overlooking the beautiful waters off the coast of Italy.

According to Pozzouli News, a local Italian publication, filming for Netflix’s Deceitful Love was conducted inside a home that viewed the gulf and probably served as Monica’s opulent residence during production.

Like Positano, Pozzouli is known for its eclectic architecture and breathtaking blue oceans.

Palazzo Partanna, Naples

The Palazzo Partanna in Naples served as another location for Deceitful Love. Mario Gioffredo restored the palace of the Palazzo Partanna in the 18th century. It now serves as the home of Naples’ Industrialists Union.

Many of the exterior shots in Deceitful Love are taken at the Palazzo Partanna, particularly in Episodes 3 and 4.

Porto Miseno, Bacoli

Deceitful Love used several locations for filming, including Porto Miseno in Bacoli, another town on the breathtaking Italian coastline.

Josi Della Ragione, the mayor of Porto Miseno, referred to the city as “A land with a thousand-year-old charm.” Ragione greeted the Deceitful Love filmmakers in their seaside town by saying, Netflix in Bacoli! Filming has begun for a new television series, at the small port of Miseno. ‘Inganno.’ An absolute first.”

Miseno is the epitome of Italian elegance in Deceitful Love because it was the site of numerous opulent Roman villas in antiquity, many of which have survived.

Amalfi coast, Southern Italy

The stunning UNESCO-listed Amalfi Coast, located in a charming region of Southern Italy, served as the backdrop for a significant portion of Deceitful Love. The area is well-known for its stunning blue coastline, sunsets, and visible islands. Its position between the land and the sea further enhances its allure.

1997, the coast was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, which still lives up to the hype. DC’s Wonder Woman was filmed here and featured on the Netflix series. Several of the show’s scenes capture the stunning scenery of the Amalfi coast and Positano, one of its thirteen villages.

Sorrento

The cast and crew of “Deceitful Love” also traveled to Sorrento, a well-known tourist destination. The filming unit found it easily accessible due to its proximity to Naples. You may be able to see some of the town’s landmarks in the background, such as Piazza Tasso, Museum Correale, the Cathedral of Saints Philip and James, and the Monastery of St. Francesco, which are all located in Southern Italy and overlooking the Bay of Naples.
