As the one-sided battle rages on, a helpless Hawks confesses that he could dig up the past of every villain in the League of Villains, but he couldn’t find anything regarding Dabi and Shigaraki’s background.

When he asks Dabi regarding his true identity directly, he receives a shocking answer from the mysterious villain.

However, Dabi’s answer is muted in the anime. The only thing we can see is the movement of his lips, making all the anime fans speculate about his true identity. So, who exactly is Dabi?

Dabi tells Hawks in season 6 episode 4 (chapter 267) that his real name is Toya Todoroki. He’s the Endeavor’s eldest son and Shoto’s elder brother who was presumed dead a long time ago. Dabi fell into villainy due to his father’s neglectful actions.

Endeavor always dreamed of surpassing All Might, but his dream remained unfulfilled. Once he realized he couldn’t surpass All Might, Endeavor changed his plans—he decided to have his progeny surpass All Might. For this purpose, he had a quirk marriage with Rei.

Dabi was Endeavor’s first child, who possessed both the fire and ice quirks of his mother and father. Endeavor doted on him because he felt Dabi had the potential to become even better than All Might. As expected, Dabi’s fire quirk did prove to be stronger than Endeavor’s.

But Endeavor’s plans started to fall apart when Dabi’s fire quirk started to backfire on him. He starts neglecting Dabi because he no longer serves Endeavor’s goals.

Endeavor’s neglect and mental torture made Dabi turn towards the villain lifestyle. He developed a grudge against his father and started to idolize Stain instead. Dabi joins the League of Villains to teach a lesson to the heroes who are similar to his father.
