Thorfinn finally reunites with his village once more in episode 24 of Vinland Saga season 2, titled “Home.”

Anxious about facing his sister and mother once more after he left at the age of six, Thorfinn gets some thorough punishment from his sister on sight. The first punch is in denial of the idea that her little brother still lives, and the second one is for leaving his family.

After finally convincing everyone that it’s him, he has a heartfelt reunion with everyone in the village. Especially his mother being the first one to recognize him with the same face as his father and taking him into her arms immediately.

1. Episode 25 Speculation: 

The following season will mark a great new start to Thorfinn’s story as he takes on the most ambitious dream a man could have. Determined to create a Vinland for everyone to live in, a belief that his dad had instilled in him.

Thorfinn has moved on to his next character arc as he goes off against the violent normality of the world of Danes and will probably face off against people like Thorgil and Thorkell on his new path. Choosing not to fight may prove difficult in many situations, but Thorfinn is one of the few people who can pull through.

The current season of Vinland Saga has ended its run. MAPPA has yet to announce the third season but considering the amount of manga left to adapt and the popularity of the first two seasons, a sequel will be announced soon. This season had a sudden release and announcement; we can expect the same for the third.

Einar and Thorfinn eventually reach Iceland, a harsh land full of snow with no single tree in sight. Leif explains the situation with the scarcity of fertile land, with everyone making a fishing career. They dock back at the village as Thorfinn starts getting nervous about facing his mom and sister again.

Meeting many flabbergasted faces of the villagers, they eventually let him meet Ylva, his sister, while she’s busy beating up some scammer in the marketplace. Leif takes him to his sister, who says his name twice before kicking him in the face and claiming her little brother died.

She starts shaking Thorfinn around in denial, and Leif tries to take him to his mother next, who will undoubtedly remember him. His mom steps out of the house and looks at his face closely, grabbing him in tears as she sees Thors’s face in his, bringing him to tears as well.

Einar packs up and tries to leave for the night to save room, but Thorfinn’s mom says that this is his home, too, and has him stay. Ylva gets back and questions Thorfinn again, holding him high by his shirt and eventually being convinced by her mom that it’s him.

Thorfinn tries to go in for a hug but gets punched so hard that he gets knocked out for leaving the family for this long. In the morning, Thorfinn walks the village roads and watches everyone at work, and the following night, he tells everyone his traumatic story and everything that happened till now.

Then he talks of Vinland and his grand vision to bring about the world he dreams about, and Leif is immediately on board to provide everything he can. Ylva talks with Thorfinn about their dad, a great man who could see something far away that neither of them could.

Vinland Saga is a Japanese historical manga series written and illustrated by Makoto Yukimura. The series is published under Kodansha in its monthly manga magazine – Monthly Afternoon – aimed at young adult men. It currently has 26 volumes in tankōbon format.

Vinland Saga is set in ancient Viking times, where a young Thorfinn’s life goes astray when his father Thors – a well-known retired warrior – is killed while on a journey.

Thorfinn then finds himself under the jurisdiction of his enemy – his father’s killer – and hopes to seek revenge on him when he grows stronger. The anime is loosely based on the expedition of Thorfinn Karlsefni in his search for Vinland.
