1. A Brief Recap of Vinland Saga Season 2, Episode 12!

As the episode starts, we see a totally wasted Olmar who is seen lying on the bench. Some of the King’s messengers approach him to “deliver” the news and end up laughing right at his face calling him a failure.

This triggers Olmar who seeks to have a duel to restore his dignity. However, he is incredibly weak and is taken down quite easily. Thorgil approaches his younger brother and tells him to either kill the person who insulted him or die for his honor.

The talk from Thorgil stirs up Olmar’s emotions and he plunges in with his sword. The opponent is fully ready to take on Olmar but is instead struck by a coin which allows Olmar to kill him. Thorgil seems to notice that this coin has come from a cloaked man.

Thorgil takes the rest of the messengers down when Ketil arrives and is completely distraught by the situation. The guards arrive to arrest Ketil and his sons for killing King’s messengers when Thorgil decides to just go for it and basically butchers the guards.

He then leaves a guard alive and forces him to reveal why they “made” Olmar win the fight. The guard reveals that it was all a farce to arrest Ketil and that the orders came from Lord Wulf.

Ketil is in distress and exclaims that everything ended while Thorgil smirks and tells them it’s just the beginning. Ultimately, Ketil and his sons escape with Leif who seems to have made a pact with them for the rescue.

2. Why does Canute want to seize Ketil’s farm?

As seen in episode 11, King Canute wants to get his hands on Ketil Farm as it is one of the most successful farms and an easy way to make money. This money will help him rule over England and Denmark.

However, he doesn’t want to acquire the farm directly and rather wants to go in a roundabout way. When Canute gets the news of the escape, he reacts quite calmly, exclaiming that this doesn’t change much and they will attack Ketil’s farm in three days.

3. What exactly does the “love that has been lost” refer to?

The twelfth episode of Season 2 shows the ruthless ruler that Canute has become, but he doesn’t seem to mind playing the villain for building the peaceful utopia that he dreams of. King Canute also tells that he is willing to do anything for the love that has been lost.

Well, we cannot be sure about what he exactly meant, but it could be a reference to the biblical love that the priest talked about that initiated Canute’s change.

Future of Ketil Farm!

Even though Olmar is not to be blamed, as his actions were manipulated by King Canute, they gave Canute a perfect excuse to wage a war against Ketil’s farm.

Canute will most probably get hold of the farm in future episodes. Will there be a battle? Or will there be no resistance? We need to wait for the next episodes for the future episodes!
