The battle between evil and good, in the form of All for One and One for All, has been taking place for a long time.

As we know, Shigaraki had been accepted as the successor for All for One after his victory against the Meta Liberation Army. For nearly 30 chapters (3 months in the story’s timeline), he had been subject to Dr. Ujiko’s experiments to make him stronger. What the new power would be was unclear until chapter 270.

It seems before All for One’s final battle with All Might; he thought he would be defeated, so he planned and asked Dr. Ujiko to remove his quirk from his body and replace it with a copy of it. The power we witnessed in All Might’s final battle was actually of a copy of the original All for One quirk.

In the last chapter, Shigaraki was forced out of his containment capsule while the progress bar was at 75%. It was presumed that he was dead as he had no heartbeat; however, this chapter shows him regaining consciousness after an internal struggle.

The chapter mainly takes place inside Shigaraki’s psyche as he relives moments of his family life. At the end of the internal struggle, we see an ominous All for One’s figure calling out to Shigaraki.

His family tries to hold him back; however, he decays them all and proceeds towards All for One. The chapter ends as he wakes up.
