Seven Deadly Sins released the first episode of its third season on October 9, 2019, exclusively in Japan. The unexpected fall release started worrying the fanbase about the quality of this season. Those worries were confirmed with early reports of a troubled and rushed production.

The animation of the series was outsourced to Marvy Jack rather than Studio DEEN, which had already taken over the work from A-1 Pictures. With the debut of this season, the fears of the fanbase came true with the Japanese audience giving it a horrendous review.

Starting off the season with a recap episode, the huge dip in quality was immediately noticeable accompanied by rather childish censorship. The blood in the action scenes was changed to have a white colour and many black spots appeared on the screens often to hide other gory details in the visuals.
