The series is set for an October release date as of now. In addition, the official website also released a new promotional teaser that focused on each of the notable characters.

The short teaser gives us a quick view of the protagonist Bodge and his shadow companion Kage.

The artstyle is very kid-friendly and topsy-turvey, which is unexpected from a studio that used to animate mountains of exposed human flesh.

Ousama Ranking follows Bodge on his journey to becoming the King, all the while; everyone ridicules him because of his disability.

The most pulling part of the story is Bodge’s difficulty in communication, which leads to the most heart-wrenching situations.

Combined with a medieval setting, court intrigue, and a loveable hero, the anime is sure to touch your heart.

Ousama Ranking is highly popular, with 2 million copies of manga in circulation, but it is also available for free here. Though the art style may not be that polished, it still has its charm.

This tale of a boy and his shadow friend will be one of the many new shows that will start in the fall season. So be sure to make plans to watch Ousama Ranking.

About Ousama Ranking

Ōsama Ranking (Ranking of Kings) is a Japanese comedy manga series by Sōsuke Tōka. It has been serialized online via Echoes’ user-submitted Manga Hack website since May 2017. An anime television series adaptation by Wit Studio premiered in October 2021.

The story centers around Bojji, a deaf, powerless prince who cannot even wield a children’s sword. As the firstborn son, he strives hard and dreams of becoming the world’s greatest king.

However, people mutter about him behind his back as “a good-for-nothing prince” and “no way he can be king.” Bojji is able to make his first-ever friend, Kage, a literal shadow on the ground who somehow understands Bojji well.

The story follows Bojji’s coming-of-age as he meets various people in his life, starting with his fateful encounter with Kage.
