Pokemon Foregoes Ash and Pikachu in New 2023 Anime

Ash and Pikachu have been together for over 25 years, and we’ve been with the duo through thick and thin. These two might not have aged even a day, but we surely did, yet we never left their side.

Pokemon has been a crucial part of our childhood and watching it always takes us back to the day when we wanted to be a Pokemon trainer too. However, all good stories must end someday, and the same goes for this pair.

The Pokemon Company has revealed that Ash and Pikachu’s story will end on January 13, 2023, with Pokemon Ultimate Journeys: The Series’ finale.

A new trailer streamed for the announcement reminisces Ash’s journey from the beginning until he became the World Champion.

An All-New Pokémon Series Is Coming

As the nostalgic and emotional part ends, the trailer gives us unexpected and exciting news of a new Pokemon series slated for 2023.

The trailer teased a new Pokemon anime series with dual protagonists Liko and Roy and their brand-new adventure. It will also feature Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly from the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet video games with the Legendary Pokémon Rayquaza in its Shiny form.

As confirmed by the franchise, the series is scheduled to debut after the conclusion of Pokemon Ultimate Journeys: The Series in January.

Moreover, the trailer further stated that Ash and Pikachu’s journey would be compiled into 11 special episodes that would be the end of Ultimate Journeys. These episodes will also include some of our favorite characters from back in the day, like Misty and Brock.

The episodes are supposed to provide a glimpse into what the future looks like for Ash and Pikachu and what their next adventure is. However, it’s not guaranteed that we’ll get to see them achieve new goals like before.

Ash has stated in the anime multiple times being a Pokemon Master is a never-ending journey, and so he will continue working towards his dream.

As for the new anime and protagonists, I can’t wait to see what they bring to the table.
