For the past decade, manga creator Kohei Horikoshi has woven a captivating storyline in the superhero manga genre with My Hero Academia. This series, a beloved part of our lives, conversations, and hearts, has left an indelible mark on us. However, it’s with a mix of nostalgia and anticipation that we share the news that My Hero Academia is now confirmed to end in merely five chapters. Yes, it’s official. After nearly 10 years in print, My Hero Academia, one of the greatest shonen manga of our times, will end in the next two months.
The Countdown Begins: My Hero Academia’s Last Manga Chapter
As we know, My Hero Academia manga has already reached its final stages, and chapter 424 marked the start of the epilogue of the series. After the final war ended, we were given the liberty to witness the characters’ futures beyond the main narrative.
Shueisha announced in its “Jump Press” video on Monday that Kōhei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia will end in the next five chapters. The manga’s final chapter will be published in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine’s combined 36th and 37th issue, which will be released on August 5, 2024.
The epilogue of the My Hero Academia manga started with the previous chapter 424, and the story is now nearing its end. Horikoshi stated that the manga would continue “for a short while” when it started its epilogue on June 3, 2024. The manga is on a two-week break and will return on July 1, 2024.

My Hero Academia, which began its serialization on July 7, 2014, is now, after a decade, preparing for its grand finale. Alongside the announcement, Horikoshi has also shared a message for the fans about his feelings on the ending of the series.
“Apologies for the two-week break! My schedule piled up… There are just five chapters left until the manga’s end. Some might think, ‘There’s still five chapters to go?!’ while others may think, ‘Just five chapters left?!’ but I’ll do my best to make sure both camps enjoy these last five chapters with Deku and the others! It was a rocky road, but I was able to draw Deku and his friends for nearly 10 years thanks to everyone who kept on reading. It was a dream. Thank you so much! Well, let’s meet again in Jump!”

In his message, Horikoshi also hints, “See you again in Jump!” This exciting prospect of the creator’s potential return to Weekly Shonen Jump with a new manga series soon makes the news seem bittersweet. While we can’t say for certain, this could be a promising sign of more adventures to come.
What to Expect From the Ending?
The final five chapters of My Hero Academia hold the promise of tying all the loose ends and filling all the plot holes, with the potential for a deeply emotional and long-awaited conclusion to the Todoroki family’s arc. While some speculate that Touya may have met his end during the confrontation with the Todoroki famil. Chapter 424 left us with Endeavour sitting miserably, seemingly near Touya. We eagerly await answers and hope that Touya will receive the proper ending he deserves.
As we move into the post-war phase, we might get a glimpse into the lives of all the survivors- heroes, villains, and citizens alike. The possibility of a proper conversation between Deku and Uraraka, which was previously interrupted, holds the potential for more plot resolution, even better if it extends to the entire class 1-A.
Lastly, the introduction of a mysterious new character towards the end of the last chapter has left us all intrigued. The child’s identity is a subject of intense speculation, with theories ranging from it being Tenko to a new villain. The manga holds the key to confirming these theories and revealing the truth. As we eagerly await the next chapters, we can only hope that Horikoshi does justice to the story in just five chapters, and that this new character’s arrival will have a significant impact on the plot.
Saying goodbye to characters you’ve grown to love over decades will be hard, but every good thing must come to an end. On a hopeful (and ironic) note, maybe we might actually get our “This truly was my hero academia” moment.
