The past villains show their heroism in chapter 378 of My Hero Academia, titled “The Story of How We All Became Heroes Part 4”.
As the situation seems hopeless with U.A. approaching the ground at incredible speeds, we see the return of an old villain, Gentle Criminal. This time, however, he is using his powers for the sake of the heroes.
An insight into his backstory and the return of another favorite villain, turned hero, shows a turn in the tide of battle as Shigaraki’s plans are delayed further.

Chapter 379 Raw Scans, Leaks
The raw scans for chapter 379 of My Hero Academia are out. It begins with a flashback of the Central Hospital after Kurogiri woke up. Dr. Mario advises Nagant against moving, but she just asks for the enemy’s location. Nagant wants to fight since Midoriya asked her to fight alongside him. Rock Lee then appears and lets her go. He also hands her a device that contains all the details of the villains.
At present, Nagant just wants another shot to pay back Deku and Hawks who pulled her out of her darkness. She then shoots Shigaraki’s other hand. The inner All For One screams with hatred, he says that trash like Nagant, who killed people, has no right to play the victim card.
Suddenly, fingers start coming out of his mouth. These fingers represent Shigaraki, who laughs at AFO since his plan didn’t work out. His plan to use Shigaraki to piss off All Might and steal OFA also failed. While the fusion had worked, Shigaraki had kept his origin hidden deep within his heart. Thus, he could ring back his own personality little by little behind AFO’s back.
AFO orders Kurogiri to teleport him to his true body but Kurogiri glitches. He says he needs to protect Shigaraki, but Shirakumo’s face can be seen as he utters, “who…where…friend…” Shigaraki continues his speech by saying he doesn’t need AFO, and his heart will never surrender. The world as it is originated his birthplace, which is why his and Shimura’s wishes are the same.
He then emerges from a sea of hands and fingers, and Shigaraki is back. Deku pulls him out instantly. Deku ties his hands with Black Whip and says, “I won’t let you do that. But I’m also not going to ignore the you who was crying.” The two are on solid ground, and a fight is about to begin.
Chapter 379 Speculation
U.A.’s fall is delayed further by Gentle Criminal, but he can only hold it for so long before needing more assistance. He will likely be able to keep it long enough such that Lady Nagant and Deku can launch some attack against Shigaraki.
We may also get an insight into the other main battlefield, and Twice continues to multiply, and Uraraka will have to find a way to deal with her somehow. She will not be able to face her in direct battle but might find a way into her heart instead.

Skeptic is in agony as all his systems slowly begin getting taken over, and he runs to ensure that she doesn’t gain access to the U.A. evacuation system at least. The flying U.A. is now in free fall and moments away from crashing and burning to the ground.
Shigaraki and Deku’s fight carries on, exhausting all their abilities and fighting based on philosophy. As the heroes figure out this dilemma, they get unexpected assistance from Gentle Criminal.
Everyone counts on him to save them, and we see a little insight into why he decides. After Tartarus was attacked, Gentle Criminal stopped all the criminals from escaping and exacting revenge, and it was the only prison with zero escapees.e
The time La Brava and Gentle Criminal spent apart only made their love even more robust, and he recalls Deku and hopes that he is still fighting to protect someone’s smile, the same reason that inspired him.
He uses Super Gentle Lover to solidify the air under U.A. and try to slow the fall and maybe even stop it; Deku recognizes Gentle from afar and realizes that perhaps there is some hope left.
The fusion has been undone, so Shigaraki is moving again; he goes to touch the ground and use Decay, but his hand is shot and severed. Tsukauchi claims that villains are still humans even if they’ve crossed the line.
He is quoting All Might, and we even see a panel of him leaving somewhere with a suitcase. Another villain whose heart is in the right place is seen sniping from afar, Lady Nagant.
