My Hero Academia’s Stage Play Makes Come Back After COVID Delay

My Hero Academia fans have waited a long time for the second stage play of the franchise. After getting delayed twice last year, the play hopefully has a performance date and some more good news.

As with every live event last year, the much-awaited second stage play also fell victim to the pandemic. After a whole year, the play will come back with an extended new version and a couple of new characters.

My Hero Academia: The “Ultra” Stage: Honmono no Hero PLUS ULTRA version stage play will run at the Tokyo Dome City Hall from December 3-12, 2021, and at the Kyoto Theater from December 24-26, 2021.

The 38th issue of the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine has released an updated visual for the stage play.

The new visual features all the students of Class 1A except Ojiro, Koda, Sato, and Shoji, and All Might. According to the director, Tsuneyasu Motoyoshi, this extended version is supposed to be the true version of the story.

This new version of the play will feature more characters, including villains like Dabi, Himeko Toga, and Twice. The cast for these characters is yet to be released.

The official website has also announced a new stage play for Spring 2022.

Although there hasn’t been an official announcement, the play will probably be available for live streaming through Live Viewing Japan, much like the first play of the franchise.

Hopefully, this will be the final date for the play. With the new movie, the current arc in the anime, and the manga, this news just adds to the already high My Hero Academia fans.

About My Hero Academia

My Hero Academia is a Japanese superhero manga series written and illustrated by Kōhei Horikoshi. It has been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump since July 2014, with its chapters additionally collected in 37 tankōbon volumes as of February 2023.

It follows a quirkless boy Izuku Midoriya and how he backed the greatest Hero alive. Midoriya, a boy who has been admiring heroes and their ventures since the day he was born, came into this world without a quirk, where almost everybody is born with one.

On one fateful day, he meets All Might the greatest Hero of all time and discovers that he was quirkless as well. With his diligent attitude and unwavering spirit about being a hero, Midoriya manages to impress All Might. He is chosen to be the heir to the power of One for All.
