Jujutsu Kaisen Falls Behind Frieren in Manga Sales, Rank Drops

Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen, along with Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End manga, ranked 1 and 2, respectively, for the highest-selling manga series of January 2024. However, Jujutsu Kaisen, crowned the top-selling manga in the new year, lost its throne and has had a drop in sales since then.

Without further ado, here are the current top-selling manga of this week, ranked below:

Jujutsu Kaisen has already released a volume for this year. Volume 25 came out on January 4, 2024, and its sales were going strong. However, the release of new volumes from other manga, such as World Trigger and Black Butler, led to a surge in their sales, highlighting the influence of new releases on the sales rankings.

Frieren saw an increase in its overall sales this month, but it couldn’t match World Trigger and Black Butler’s new volume release sales and dropped down a rank. Notably, Black Butler is releasing a new anime adaptation after ten years, which sparked a renewed interest in its manga, leading to a spike in its sales.

Considering that Boruto and Kagurabachi are relatively new and only on their second volume release, both manga have performed remarkably well this week. They managed to make it to the top ten best-selling manga list within only four days of sales.

Oshi No Ko has also consistently been in the top-selling charts and has retained its position in the top ten. Romance anime Kekkaishi No Ichirinka and Kizumono No Hanayome are also relatively fresh but have managed to break through and become best-sellers.

With the current stats, it’s hard to predict the top-selling manga charts as they fluctuate with every chapter release. External factors such as anime adaptations, current trends, and story plot-twists affect sales and rankings.

Next week’s ranking might completely differ from this week’s, which only time will tell.
