James Cameron, the director of blockbusters like Titanic and Terminator, congratulated the whole team of Avengers: Endgame for overtaking the box office collections of his 2009 film, Avatar as the highest-grossing movie of all times.
Avatar remained on the top of the list for ten years and that ten-year run came to an end this Monday. Avatar earned $2.7897 billion in the year 2009, and the Marvel movie dethroned it after the re-release making $2.79 billion.
The competition between the two movies was intense. Surprisingly, James Cameron praised the whole Marvel team with a heartfelt tweet and congratulated The Russo Brothers and Marvel boss Kevin Feige.
James wrote, “Oel Ngati Kameie, I see you Marvel – Congratulations to Avengers: Endgame on becoming the new box-office king.” Cameron wished them in the fictional language of Na’ vi people used in Avatar.

The Russo’s were moved by James Cameron’s heartwarming reaction and replied by sharing some of the photos of a few Cameron movies like Avatar and Titanic. They said, “you’re a monumental reason why we fell in love with film in the first place. Thank you for always inspiring us and opening the world’s eyes to what’s possible. We can’t wait to see where you take us next…”
During the SDCC 2019, Kevin Feige heaped praise and admiration on James Cameron and Avatar. “You have to shout out to James Cameron, who held that title for a long time,” Feige acclaimed.
Titanic was the first movie to gross over $1 billion and was the highest-grossing movie of all times. In 2009 Avatar took the mantle and both were James Cameron masterpieces. It took a whole 10 years for any other film to compete with Avatar and in 2019 Avengers Endgame finally became the highest-grossing of all time.
