Hunter X Hunter Filler Guide: How Many Fillers Are There?

Hunter x Hunter is an anime packaged as a Shonen but is really a deconstruction of the typical elements present in the genre.

It has a long list of episodes that often mislead certain viewers about the amount of filler present in the show.

Hunter x Hunter certainly has fillers but not as many as you might think.

Hunter x Hunter anime has two adaptations of its manga, and both the versions have very little filler.

As of episode 148 for Hunter x Hunter (2011), only 2 episodes are confirmed filler episodes while there are 5 fillers out of 62 episodes in Hunter x Hunter (1999).

In addition to the main series, there are 30 canon OVAs in Hunter x Hunter (1999), which are essential to the plot.

The filler in 2011 anime is recap episodes that should be skipped, while the 1999 anime has filler episodes that add more to the story and the personality of the characters.

You can skip them all if you want, although some fillers can be equally if not more gripping than canon episodes.
