Hunter x Hunter showed us who the true Boss of Shonen is! Even the mere announcement of the manga’s official comeback after a hiatus had set the internet in a frenzy. This goes on to show just how popular the series really is.
Recently, volume 38 of the Hunter x Hunter was released, and it is already claiming the top spots in both fans’ hearts and in terms of popularity. Even with the irregular release and frequent hiatus, Togashi’s series continues to be relevant.
Volume 38 of Hunter x Hunter- Release Date and Sale
The latest volume of Hunter x Hunter, i.e., Volume 38, was released by Shueisha on September 4th, 2024. As previously announced, it will comprise 10 chapters, spanning from chapter 391 to the latest chapter 400, which was released in Weekly Shōnen Jump in 2022.
Within the same day of its release, it was placed on top of the Shoseki Manga Rankings, which estimates the daily manga volume sales, and was released on 5 September 2024. Hunter x Hunter secured the first position, followed by Spy x Family and Ruti Dragon.
The series maintained its stronghold by becoming the best seller on 5 September, too. The 2-day sales only show how well-loved the series is in Japan and worldwide.
Plot of Volume 38 of Hunter x Hunter
Volume 38 of Hunter x Hunter is titled ‘Founding,’ which features the series’s beloved protagonist, Gon Freecss, on the front cover. Shueisha has also released a special trailer to hype the release, showcasing what will be included in the latest volume.
Volume 38 will continue with the ‘Succession Contest Arc,’ where the fourteen princes of the Kakin Empire will engage in a fierce battle for the throne. The contest is taking place on the empire’s ship ‘Black Whale.’
Kurapika becomes the bodyguard of the youngest prince to reach the owner of the last ‘Scarlet Eyes.’ But soon, Kurapika and prince get entangled in the survival journey consisting of dangerous mafias, provisional hunters, and the infamous Phantom Troupe.
When will the Manga Return?
Hunter x Hunter has become as famous for its long breaks as its storyline. In 2018, the manga took its longest hiatus due to Yoshihiro Togashi’s poor health. The series made a comeback after the 4-year hiatus with chapter 400 on December 26, 2022, before going into a break again.
But fans don’t need to worry, as this hiatus won’t last as long as the previous one. Shueisha has announced that the series will resume on the Weekly Shōnen Jump with chapter 401 on October 7, 2024.
While the number of chapters is yet to be confirmed, this time, the manga will not follow the weekly timeline but will have its own schedule for the release. Shueisha has confirmed that it is working with the author and will support the new schedule.
