New Trailer for ‘Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis’ Reveals More Gameplay

‘Final Fantasy VII’ has somewhat developed into a franchise of its own, with characters like Cloud and Sephiroth becoming incredibly popular. The ‘Remake Series’ is already a hit among fans and the second installment ‘Rebirth’ is arriving soon.

Meanwhile, a smartphone game is also in development and scheduled for release this year. “Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis” literally compiles all major stories in one, although with phone-friendly gameplay.

On Thursday, Square Enix, the developer of Final Fantasy games revealed a new trailer for “Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis” at the Summer Game Fest. The trailer displays new gameplay footage and announces pre-registration for both iOS and Android.

The new video shows Sephiroth calling Genesis Rhapsodos, followed by a message “We still don’t know Sephiroth”. Later, we see Cloud, Barret, and others exploring the world. Battle scenes with some monsters, like Behemoth and Baloir King are also shown, which are visibly more detailed.

We also get a look at the user interface of the game, displaying how to enhance abilities, create a party, and other functions.

Lastly, the trailer announced that pre-registration for the closed beta test has begun. The beta test will run from June 8 to June 28. ‘Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis’ will feature the events of the following installments:

  • Final Fantasy VII main game
  • Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children film
  • Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII
  • Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
  • Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII

It is a great initiative by Square Enix to introduce the game and its storyline to a new audience. A complete series in one game will allow newbies to catch up in the fastest way possible. Being a smartphone game, the gameplay might not be the same as the ‘Remake’ but this could lead them to try the latter.
