Senku and their team finally acquire the last item to set out into the sea in episode 3 of Dr.Stone Season 3, titled “First Contact.”

However, the celebration is quickly cut short.

Sailing out into the sea until no coast is visible, the group is exhilarated at how far they have progressed. Using a makeshift radio machine to get back in contact with land, their communication is quickly overtaken by a mysterious frequency, not a friendly one.

Here are the latest updates.

1. Episode 4 Speculation:

The frequency was taken over by a powerful signal coming from somewhere entirely different, and thus begins, the true story of this arc. The message repeatedly says “Why” in Morse code, and its meaning or intention is yet to be understood.

Senku has deduced that the only one who could be sending this signal is probably the one who petrified the world all those years ago, a theory that still has holes in it, considering that he would die of age by now. Another possibility is that the message is entirely automated or delivered by someone else.

With the newly acquired camera, the mapping of the village and its terrain are quickly mapped out, and navigation is made much more accessible. Senku and Ryusui cover the air, take hundreds of photos, and send them back to the team on the ground to map them out.

The harvest season finally arrives, and the farm is brimming with wheat ready to be made into food. With Francois now a part of the village and a steady source of grain, they are prepared to start on their menu to make some proper food.

Suika is assigned to go with Francois and Kohaku to bring back boars and gather ingredients to find black mushrooms for the truffle. However, a black splotch in the forest initially mistaken for mushrooms turns out to have a high chance of being oil, the one thing they were missing.

They search widely around the forest area to find the oil puddle. However, they’re struggling to find something so small in the vast forest, but a moment of recollection strikes Senku as he remembers that they could use boars to see the oil puddle, as they naturally love playing in muddy water.

Following one of the boars back, they reach the oil field, and their dream to travel the seas has finally become a reality. Senku makes a motorboat with a Sterling engine, tests out the gasoline he created to power the machine, and sets out into the sea.

Surrounded by just sea with no land in sight, Senku announces that the next item on their list is to make a GPS, with a giant radio beacon on the ground which Suika activates and receives a signal through an antenna on the boat.

However, the message is interrupted by some static noise which quickly alarms Ukio’s hearing as he realizes it’s a powerful signal coming from somewhere else. Gen recognizes it as Morse code, a message saying “Why” on repeat, as Senku realizes that the man who petrified humanity is finally in reach.
