A veteran adventurer with a lack of innate talent hoped to become an elite Mithril-Ranked adventurer. However, a dragon puts an end to his grind by devouring him, or so it seems. He mysteriously survives but no longer possesses a human body.
‘The Unwanted Undead Adventurer’ is not exactly a reincarnation story but involves physical transformation. The concept of ‘existential evolution’ revives the adventurer’s hope of becoming a human so he will not be hunted by others for loot.
The official website for the anime adaptation of ‘The Unwanted Undead Adventurer’ revealed its first teaser and visual on Saturday. It also revealed the main cast, staff, and the release window of 2024.
In the video, the main character Rentt gets eaten by a dragon. He wakes up but finds out that his entire body is a skeleton. The next few scenes show him using magic and his swordsmanship skills. We also get a look at Lorraine, Sheila, and Rina.
The first visual shows Rentt as a skeleton wielding his sword and wearing a hood, making him look like ‘Darth Vader’. Four cast members were revealed on the official website:

‘The Unwanted Undead Adventurer’ is a light novel series that is ongoing since October 2017. A manga adaptation is also serialized on OVERLAP’s Comic Gardo website. For the anime, the following staff members were revealed:

There is nothing new enough to the theme, except the ‘existential evolution’, but there is a lot more room for the story. Even if Rentt manages to achieve his goal, his aspiration to become an elite will keep him going.

‘The Unwanted Undead Adventurer’ (Nozomanu Fushi no Bōkensha) is a light novel series written by Yū Okano and illustrated by Jaian. It was launched on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in September 2016. Overlap acquired the novel and is publishing it since October 2017.
Rentt Faina is an adventurer with a decade of experience but is stuck to a lower rank because of a lack of innate talent. One day, while exploring a dungeon, he encounters a dragon who eats him. He survives but now exists as a skeleton. Rentt now seeks to physically ‘evolve’ by fighting and absorbing magic.
