For the main staff, a few changes have been made. Katsumi Ono will be the new director, replacing Toshiyuki Kato. Instead of david production, Studio KAI will handle the animation.

Atsuhiro Tomioka will return to compose the series along with character designer Hajime Watanabe.

The first season of Captain Tsubasa did not get as much publicity as it needed, concerning fans. But considering the revived love for soccer from the recent FIFA World Cup, they might address it this time.
