Avengers: Endgame now holds the record of having the longest theatrical release of 2019

Avengers Endgame is just not stopping. Avengers: Endgame, officially the highest-grossing movie of all time, now holds the record of having the longest-running theatrical release of 2019. The original cut of the film dropped on 29th April and a special bonus feature re-release landed on 28 June. The re-release was the last bid to overtake Avatar as the highest-grossing movie of all the times, which eventually worked.

Even now, Avengers: Endgame is somehow managing to stay in cinemas. It is currently still playing in over 100 theatres, and at this rate, it is likely to go on for another week or two.

Avengers: Endgame has raked in a mind-boggling $2,796,267,086 and continues to add to that. A significant portion of its money comes from international markets like China and India. Domestically in the US, it banked $858,365,685, which is actually less than the domestic earning of Star Wars: The  Force Awakens. Avengers: Endgame somehow managed to make $16,000 on Labor day, despite the fact that it was available on Blu-ray and digital media. Fortunately for Marvel, fans loved re-watching this epic culmination movie in the theatres.

The future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe seems bright. The MCU phase four has loads of sequels and new entries coming up. Phase four includes The Black Widow movie, which will be a prequel to Avengers: Endgame, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Disney+ show. New Entries include the Eternals and Shang-Chi.

The road ahead is not going to be easy for Disney and Marvel. DC and Warner Brothers are rebooting the DCEU and there are many movies lined up. Birds of Prey, Batman, Joker, and others are going to provide stiff competition especially based on the attention the Joke movie is receiving at the moment.

The genre of Superhero movies will become more competitive in the coming years and hopefully, that means tonnes of entertainment for us fans!
