Episode 1, titled “Welcome,” starts with Shin dreaming about his brother, who tells him that he should try and lead a happy life without thinking about him.

He then retracts what he said and tells him that he wishes that Shin thinks about him once in a while and goes to the other side.

Meanwhile, back in the Republic, a little while after Shin and his companions disappeared, Lena has been downgraded from leading Spearhead and is accountable for the conventional 86 unit, driven by Cyclops.

Nonetheless, she is still the top-performing handler. She utilizes her standing and influence to get more assets and advantages for her soldiers and gains a team of soldiers faithful to her.

In the meantime, Shin awakens from his deep sleep to discover him and his companions in the guardianship of the Federacy of Giad, the successor country to the Empire of Giad after it was overtaken in a rebellion.

They are welcomed by Ernst Zimerman, the temporary leader of the Federacy, who uncovers that they were safeguarded from Legion and guarantees they will be treated as guests.

86 is a Japanese science fiction light novel series, written by Asato Asato and illustrated by Shirabi, with mechanical design by I-IV.

86 follows the story of a 16-year-old girl, Vladilena Milizé, better known as Lena. Lena serves as a major in the Republic of San Magnolia’s army and a handler for the ‘Processors’ of the Republic’s ‘unmanned drones’ known as Juggernauts.

Their goal is to use these drones to defend against Legion drones developed by the Giadian Empire, which started a war with them a while back. However, there is also a dark secret which the Republic holds.
