Instead, he endured his surroundings, which reminded him of his prior painful job at the Black Company. The constant abuse eventually damaged Akira, transforming him into a robot-like figure reminiscent of his former self.

To do this, he implemented stringent measures such as evicting a stray dog she had brought home as a child and forbidding her from having a boyfriend during her adolescence. He saw these things as hindrances to her career and advancement up the corporate ladder.

Shizuka was also brainwashed to obey her father’s commands. However, running across Akira gave her a new perspective on life. Shizuka browsed through Akira’s 100 Things to Do Before Turning into a Zombie Notebook and even added something of her own.

Shizuka and Kencho decided to leave the truck stop for good when their bargain ended, but Akira, who wasn’t mentally free from Kosugi’s restraints, refused to leave. Shizuka revealed to Akira in front of everyone that she had undergone a similar shift due to him.

She urged him to embrace his genuine self and move on from his current situation. Akira regained consciousness and discovered his notepad, which included a new goal to defend himself against his boss. Akira eventually chose to leave, but zombies quickly overran the area.

Akira assisted Kosuagi in a difficult situation since diverting his gaze from someone who asked for help was not on his bucket list. Aside from Akira, Kencho, and Shizuka, everyone at the truck stop eventually opted to cease working for Kosugi and leave him behind, continuing their journey.
