Gon and Killua have always been the faces of Hunter x Hunter, and I think we can all agree on it. They’ll always get mentioned or referenced, regardless of the storyline or if they’re even a part of it.
As seen in the manga’s ongoing Succession Contest arc, the boys are taking a break from the action and are busy doing their own thing. Noting how much the crowd misses this iconic and chaotic duo, Jump Comics got a little treat for us.
The official YouTube channel of Weekly Shonen Jump started streaming a special promo video for Hunter x Hunter featuring Gon and Killua.
It includes manga panels with some of their most iconic lines being played in the background. Gon and Killua’s voice actors, Megumi Han and Mariya Ise contributed their talent and efforts to make this video even more special.
Gon and Killua were last seen as the main characters during the 13th Hunter Chairman Election arc and parted ways at the end of it. They both had their own plans and cheerfully promised to reunite once they were done with it.
Killua wanted to show his sister Alluka what the outside world was like, while Gon wished to prepare himself to explore the Dark Continent one day. Given these circumstances and Gon’s inability to use his aura, the pair will probably not be a part of the ongoing arc.
At this moment, only Kurapika seems to be in the main storyline out of the four characters that started this tale. On the contrary, Killua, Gon, and Leorio were the highlight of the last arc, and Kurapika was nowhere to be seen.
I know we all desperately want to see the whole gang together again, but that’s not happening anytime soon.
However, we can always expect a surprise from Togashi’s side regarding these two, as the story doesn’t feel the same without them.
