World Trigger’s Author Daisuke Ashihara Takes 1-Month Break to Recover From Illness

With Japan’s unhealthy work lifestyle it’s no wonder that mangaka often suffer from serious illnesses. The latest target to this trend is World Trigger’s Daisuke Ashihara. World Trigger is a massively popular science fiction manga with a dash of adventure.

It tells the story of Mikado City and how the citizens fight back when alien life-forms named Neighbors suddenly invade.

Since Daisuke Ashihara is currently recovering from his illness, he will be taking a month long hiatus and the next chapter for World Trigger will be published in the April Issue on March 4th. The latest volume will be shipped on February 4th as planned.

Translations: The March issue of Jump Square released on February 4th will be suspended due to the author’s sudden illness. The medical condition is not the new corona (COVID-19). Mr. Ashihara is currently resting. The latest 23 volumes of comics will be released on February 4th as scheduled. It will also be published in the April issue of Jump Square. Thank you.

World Trigger manga is currently on chapter 205 with the Expedition Selection Exam 3 arc. The lineup for the Away Mission is finally revealed and Katori and Osamu are on the same expedition team.

The next chapter will probably pick up the manga’s pace as the new expedition begins.

The coronavirus pandemic is also a serious concern ever since Tokyo and other prefectures near it were shut down declaring a state of emergency. So, it is likely that some of our favorite manga might also be delayed.

As much as I want World Trigger’s new chapter to be released soon, the mangaka’s health is what’s more important right now. I hope he takes his time and returns fully recovered!
