Will Thorfinn ever surpass his father in Vinland Saga?

Throughout the initial stages of the manga, Thorfinn is obsessed with taking down Askeladd for killing his father. He trained for multiple years and basically lived his entire life on the battlefield in hopes of becoming avenging Thors.

He showed remarkable growth and improved drastically throughout the manga series. Despite showing this amazing growth, he is still far less strong than his father, Thors. He is constantly improving and bettering himself, but will he ever surpass Thors? Let’s find out!

Thorfinn is one of the strongest fighters in the manga. However, he didn’t even defeat Thorkell, who was nowhere close to Thors’ level, meaning Thorfinn has not surpassed Thors. Since he has given up on fighting, we might never see him surpass Thors’ level.

How Strong is Thorfinn: Thorfinn’s Journey to Strength!

Thorfinn was a friendly and innocent boy who was searching for adventure. He looked up to his father and followed in his footsteps. However, after Thors is killed by Askeladd, a mercenary, his life changes for the worse.

He swore vengeance and lived his entire life on the battlefield. He was obsessed with killing Askeladd and did not care about anybody, and only wanted to get stronger. His constant battles helped him become more powerful.

During this time, he improved at an unrealistic rate with every battle he fought. He depended on his agility since he had a small build and focused on killing enemies with knives. He had extraordinary precision, and he generally did not take any hits.

However, this thirst for strength quickly ended as Canute killed Askeladd. He was sold off as a slave for injuring Canute and went into a slump, and lost every inspiration to fight.

Thorfinn eventually found his resolve to live but became a pacifist after having constant nightmares of the people he killed. He decided not to hurt anybody with a proper reason in hand.

Will Thorfinn ever surpass Thors?

Based on estimation, it is safe to say Thorfinn is still far from surpassing Thors. If Thorfinn went on to fight, there was a huge possibility of him surpassing Thors.

However, Thorfinn has given up on fighting and vowed to take a more peaceful approach, and decided not to fight again. If he stays in the pacifist way, he will never get strong enough to surpass Thors.

Nevertheless, life is hard, and things don’t go as planned. If Thorfinn decides to fight again, he might improve his strength and surpass his father.

Thors, the strongest fighter!

Will Thorfinn ever fight again?

In the latest arc, Thorfinn decides to create a dreamland. His attempts to create peace are opposed by the natives, who do not wish to be invaded. This puts him in a predicament.

Thorfinn might require violence to achieve his dream or choose to stick to his ideals of pacifism. Based on context, it seems more likely for Thorfinn to fight again. But his fight wouldn’t be meaningless and would instead be for achieving his dream.

These are just possibilities and we need to wait and watch the events of the final season unfold to get a definite answer.
