1. Is there a release date for Bridgerton Season 3?

Bridgerton is yet to get a release date.

The much-anticipated Bridgerton series wrapped filming in March 2023, leading many to expect its release by the holiday season 2023, just like the first season.

However, with no official release window confirmed yet, it’s more likely that we’ll see Bridgerton return to our screens sometime in 2024. While the wait may feel long, the anticipation for the next chapter of this beloved period drama only continues to grow.

2. Bridgerton Season 3 cast: Who’s returning, and are there any new characters?

The Bridgerton cast will see some notable changes in Season 3. While many familiar faces will return, others will depart. Most of the Bridgerton siblings are confirmed to return, including Claudia Jessie as Eloise, Luke Thompson as Benedict, and Luke Newton as Colin.

Jonathan Bailey will reprise his role as the eldest Bridgerton, Anthony, the 9th Viscount, alongside his new wife, Kate (née Sharma), played by the energetic Simone Ashley.

Nicola Coughlan will return as the deliciously devious Penelope Featherington, alias Lady Whistledown. Polly Walker, Bessie Carter, and Harriet Cains will return as Lady Portia, Prudence, and Phillipa Featherington.

Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury), Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), and Ruth Gemmell (Violet Bridgerton) will all be reprising their roles as they did in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.

Unfortunately for longtime fans, Daphne, the Duchess of Hastings, will not return for Season 3. Phoebe Dynevor, who played Season 1’s leading lady, revealed the news in January after being asked what we can expect from Daphne in the new season.

3. Upcoming Plot for Bridgerton Season 3

The official plot synopsis for Bridgerton Season 3 reads:

From Shondaland and new showrunner Jess Brownell, Bridgerton is back for its third season and finds Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) has finally given up on her long-held crush on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) after hearing his disparaging words about her last season.

However, she has decided it’s time to find a husband, preferably one who will give her enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far away from her mother and sisters.

But needing more confidence, Penelope’s attempts on the marriage mart fail spectacularly. Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a new look and a severe sense of swagger. But he’s disheartened to realize that, Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him as he was gave him the cold shoulder.

Eager to win back her friendship, Colin offers to mentor Penelope in confidence-building techniques to help her find a husband this season. But when his lessons start working too well, Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly just friendly.

Complicating matters for Penelope is her rift with Eloise (Claudia Jessie), who has found a new friend in an improbable place. At the same time, Penelope’s growing presence in the ton makes it all the more challenging to keep her Lady Whistledown alter ego a secret.

Penelope was heartbroken when she overheard Colin say he would never court her. From the next season’s summary, she’s ready to relinquish her long-standing crush.

Still, she hasn’t yet ruled out finding a husband. She decides to look for a partner who will give her “enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown.”

Unfortunately, her marriage attempts fail as Colin returns from his summer travels with a new look.

Colin was saddened to learn that Penelope, who had always accepted him for who he was, was now giving him the cold shoulder. To regain her friendship, Colin offered to mentor Penelope and help her find a suitable husband this season.

During this process, Colin had to confront the possibility that his feelings for Penelope might extend beyond friendship.

Penelope also faced challenges with her strained relationship with Eloise (Claudia Jessie), who had formed an unexpected friendship elsewhere.

Penelope’s growing prominence in high society complicated her efforts to maintain her secret identity as Lady Whistledown.

6. About Bridgerton

Bridgerton is an American streaming television period drama series created by Chris Van Dusen and produced by Shonda Rhimes. It is based on Julia Quinn’s novel series of the same name, set in the competitive world of Regency era in London.

The show’s ensemble cast includes Adjoa Andoh, Lorraine Ashbourne, Jonathan Bailey, Ruby Barker, Sabrina Bartlett, Harriet Cains, Regé-Jean Page, Bessie Carter, Nicola Coughlan, Phoebe Dynevor, Ben Miller, Golda Rosheuvel, Luke Newton and Julie Andrews among many others.

The series follows the eight close-knit siblings of the Bridgerton family on their journey to find love and happiness in London’s high society. Bridgerton Season 1 mainly focuses on the eldest daughter of the family, Daphne’s involvement with the Duke of Hastings as they enter a fake courtship for self-serving motives.

The upcoming Season 2 will focus on Daphne’s brother, Anthony Brigerton’s love life. Anthony is on his way attempting to marry Edwina Sharma, only to find himself getting attracted to her sister, Kate.
