The stereotypical representation will be broken in the upcoming film as it isn’t focused on gaining sympathy for the main couple but portraying them as any other couple.

This manga is one of the most wholesome stories I’ve ever read. After a successful manga and live-action TV show, the franchise decided to shower us with more content.

What Did You Eat Yesterday? announced a live-action film for a November 3rd premiere along with a trailer.

The trailer starts with the actors Seiyō Uchino and Hideotshi Nishijima, who play the main leads, giving a short intro.

It opens with a cheerful tone, with the protagonists Kenji Yabuki and Shiro Kakei having some quality time together and meeting new people.

Then it dives into a slightly somber setting and picks up right when it previews SPITZ’s theme song, ‘Daikо̄butsu’ (Favorite Food).

Showing some of the couple’s happiness and lowkey cute moments hints at how the couple is still learning, growing, and figuring themselves out.

Along with the fantastic trailer, the film’s poster visual was also revealed, featuring both the protagonists and other side characters.

The visual shows Kenji and Shiro eating together, which is symbolic of their relationship and the story. Both of them are working adults and spend some quality time with each other only during dinner.

In both the manga and its live-action adaptation, Shiro often narrates the recipe of each dish he prepares in an internal monologue while cooking. The two then proceed to have some home-cooked meals and talk about their day.

Most of the cast from the live-action TV show of the series will be returning for the film as well:

The director and scriptwriter, Kazuhito Nakae and Naoko Adachi will also be returning from the show.

The series is not only an accurate representation of the community but is also very heartwarming. That’s why I can’t wait till it comes out.

Until then, why not binge the TV show or read the manga?
