WATATEN!: An Angel Flew Down to Me is a comedy anime based on Nanatsu Mukunoki’s Watashi ni Tenshi ga Maiorita! manga.
The manga focuses on Miyako, a college student who loves dressing her sister’s friend Hana in cosplay outfits. Hana being a cute kid interests Miyako and the two girls bond over cosplay, food and friendship.
The four panel manga was published in Comic Yuri Hime magazine back in 2016. And since its increase in popularity, it was adapted into a twelve episode anime with a special OVA back in 2019.
WATATEN! anime’s official website announced that the franchise has started a new animation project for WATATEN!. More details on the release date, cast and crew will be added to the website later.
The official news was followed by the visual poster which states that a new anime project will begin soon.
Being a Yuri manga, the anime adaptation of WATATEN! featured cute and wholesome moments of Miyako and Hana as they realized how precious they are for each other.
The anime had good comedic dialogues and a slice of life feel to it.
Now, with all the mystery surrounding the new project, a piece of good news was revealed. All 12 episodes of “WATATEN!: An Angel Flew Down to Me” are available for the viewers to watch on Crunchyroll.
A music group named “WATATEN!☆5” was made to promote the anime’s main voice cast.
The members Maria Sashide, Rika Nagae, Akari Kitō, Hitomi Ohwada and Naomi Ōzora are releasing a music album titled “Delicious Smile” on November 25th.
A short version for their song “Delicious Smile” was also released. This melodic song will definitely become a hit among fans.
The group will hold a live solo on February 6th, 2021. Anyone can participate in the event as no ticket fee will be taken. More details will be added to their official website soon.
Despite its cuteness and feel good vibe, the anime garnered a lot of negative attention. The public claimed it to cross the line between innocent and creepy and reprimanded the anime studio Doga Kobo heavily.
We hope the new series will focus on developing the characters and make them more likeable and progressive with the storyline.
