Urusei Yatsura Season 2 Ep 2: Release Date, Speculations, Watch Online

Episode 1 of ‘Urusei Yatsura Season 2’ is titled “Fantasy Bubble Gum.” In this episode, Ataru finds a packet of magical bubblegum.

The bubblegum has the ability to create anything from the user’s imagination. Ataru uses this opportunity to try to create pretty girls to date. However, his plan backfires as even the girls he makes don’t want to date him.

Lum discovers Ataru trying to cheat on her and chases him down. Ataru uses the bubblegum to create decoys and clones to escape Lum.

1. Episode 2 Release Date

2. Episode 2 Speculation

At the end of the episode, Ataru realizes what life was like without Lum. Ataru will likely value Lum more in the following episodes once she recovers. However, Ataru has to wear a muzzle to understand Lum for now.

Shinobu and the other girls weren’t shown much in this episode and will likely feature in the next. Moreover, Ataru will get up to more mischievous acts and piss off Lum. At the end of the episode, Lum and Ataru will make up and prove that love wins in the end.

3. Recap of Episode 1

Ataru runs out into the street, searching for girls to pick up, and jumps onto a girl. However, the girl Ataru chose is a short temple guy. Lum jumps in and shocks Ataru, refusing to accept any cheating. Ataru then finds a tiny baby advertising some magic bubblegum. 

Ataru steals all the bubblegum from the baby and sprints off. The baby then goes to Lum and complains about Ataru. Ataru pictures Oyuki and Benten on the school rooftop, and they both appear in the bubble. Lum interferes and slams Ataru with a hammer, scolding him for his actions.

Ataru then blows a bubble and creates a clone of himself to distract Lum. Lum chases him while Ataru evades capture by making more clones. Ataru runs into Mendo and gets into a swordfight. Ataru wins the swordfight, continues running, and escapes Lum again. 

Ataru drops some bubblegums while running, and Lum picks them up. Lum blows bubbles and creates a bunch of attractive women. The actual version of the girls spot their clones and try to find the person who created them. Meanwhile, Ataru tries to figure out the secret of the bubblegum.

The following morning, Ataru accidentally throws a rice cooker at Lum. Lum gets a big bump on her head and also loses the ability to speak correctly. After reaching school, Lum can’t speak or read properly. Sakura enters the room and tries to figure out what happened to Lum.

Sakura diagnoses Lum with temporary memory loss and puts a band aid on her forehead. Ataru decides to hit on other girls and take advantage of this opportunity. However, every girl keeps rejecting Ataru, and Lum angrily flies away.

Lum flies to the spaceship and fiddles with alien equipment. Lum remains missing for the next couple of days. However, Ataru spots her flying around one day. When Ataru reaches his house, Lum is also fidgeting with some tools. Ataru apologizes and hugs Lum.

Urusei Yatsura is a manga series by Rumiko Takahashi. It has a total of 374 chapters and was published from 1978 to 1987. Its anime adaptation received 195 episodes from 1981 to 1986. A new anime adaptation with selected stories began airing in October 2022.

In the series, a humanoid alien race invades the Earth but agrees that if the protagonist wins in a game of tag, they will leave it unharmed. Ataru wins against the alien girl, Lum.

Lum misunderstands and thinks Ataru is proposing marriage, and starts living with him and joins his high school. Ataru is a trouble magnet and gets stuck in weird situations pretty often.
