It was quite a hilarious episode. The first half of the episode was a funny mess where everyone applies Lum’s special lipstick just in the hope of getting a kiss from their love.

In the second half, they all played the game of Yaminabe, where everyone brought some kind of food item to put into a large pot. This activity turns into chaos thanks to Lum’s terrible food.

Episode 19 Speculations

Ataru and Lum might get trapped in a magic realm in episode 19 of Urusei Yatsura, titled “Magic Realm! Jungle of Terror Pickled.”

I think some kind of new character will be introduced in the episode, as no one right now has magical powers like the one mentioned in the title. Or maybe it is some kind of parody.

The second half might be about some kind of jungle or a strange place where the characters will go for some work. I am not much interested to know what it is, but it will sure be fun.

No, episode 19 of Urusei Yatsura is not on break this week. The episode will be released as per scheduled.

Episode 18 Recap

Lum creates a special type of lipstick in her lab and applies on her lips. She goes to Ataru’s house and tries to apply the same lipstick on his lips too. Ataru avoids it, and in all the rush, the lipstick gets applied on Ten’s face.

We find out that whoever applies these lipsticks, their end up kissing. Ataru finds it mean to get a kiss using such dirty tricks. He throws it away, and Lum leaves with a bad mood. However, he hasn’t really thrown it and takes it to the school.

He tells Ryunosuke to use it, and his plan is almost successful, but Ryunosuke avoids the kiss. Lum also shows up, and the situation turns into a mess where everyone applies the lipstick, and in the end, Mendo and Ataru end up kissing each other. 

The situation gets even messier as all the students and even the class teacher gets involved in the lipstick mayhem.

The recreational activity for the coming week’s class is selected to be Yaminabe. For that, Lum creates a special type of food for Ataru and tries to feed it to him.

Ataru avoids it as much as he can, but ends up eating one of the balls, causing his mouth to burn because of the spiciness. At night, he asks Lum about the food she hates, and she tells him that it is the vegetable Chomchomp.

One day, he finds out that Lum is allergic to garlic. He eats a lot of garlic and rushes to irritate Lum with the smell, but his plan fails. On the day of Yaminabe, everyone puts in the pot everything they have.

Ten also brings Chompchomp and puts it into the pot. In the end, Ataru gets the Chompchomp, that is actually a giant human eating plant, and everyone else faints because of Lum’s food.

About Urusei Yatsura

Urusei Yatsura is a manga series by Rumiko Takahashi. It has a total of 374 chapters and was published from 1978 to 1987. Its anime adaptation received 195 episodes from 1981 to 1986. A new anime adaptation with selected stories began airing in October 2022.

In the series, a humanoid alien race invades the Earth but agrees that if the protagonist wins in a game of tag, they will leave it unharmed. Ataru wins against the alien girl, Lum.

Lum misunderstands and thinks Ataru is proposing marriage, and starts living with him and joins his high school. Ataru is a trouble magnet and gets stuck in weird situations pretty often.
