The hotshot detective Ryo Saeba is ready for another day solving crime, fighting bad guys, and failing to score a woman. The new City Hunter film was announced last year for 2023, with the message “The Final Chapter Begins”.
Now the staff has spilled some more information about the film which we were all waiting for.
On Wednesday, the official Twitter account for City Hunter released the first trailer for the film. The new film is titled “City Hunter the Movie: Angel Dust” and it is planned for a fall premiere in Japan.
The trailer previews the song “Get Wild” by TM Network, which was also the ending song for the original anime series. Kaori smashes Ryo with a hammer with ‘2023t’ written on it. Ryo fights a masked figure. In the end, the message “The battle to end the past begins” appears.
City Hunter the Movie: Angel Dust will have a connection to Ryo’s past and the death of his partner Hideyuki Makimura. As the poster reveals once again, the film will start the final chapter of the series.
Sunrise and The Answer Studio Co., Ltd will handle the film’s animation, with Kenji Kodama as the director. Yasuyuki Muto will write the screenplay for the film.
This movie celebrates thirty-five years of television anime and also features a returning cast. These include Akira Kamiya as Ryo Saeba, Kazue Ikura as Kaori Makimura, Harumi Ichiryusai as Saeko Nogami, Tessho Genda as Umibozu, and Mami Koyama as Miki.
Hopefully, the team will announce an exact release date soon. Since it teases the beginning of the final chapter, we are sure there will be at least another movie in the future.

City Hunter the Movie: Angel Dust (Gekijо̄ban City Hunter: Tenshi no Namida) is an anime film based on the popular detective-comedy manga series by Tsukasa Hojo. This movie adapts the final chapter from the manga series and will also commemorate the 35th anniversary of the anime series.
The story will have a connection to Ryo’s past and the death of his old partner Hideyuki Makimura.
