Tokyo Revengers Season 2: Where to Stream and What to Expect

Tokyo Revengers became a huge hit among the anime community after the release of season 1. The massive success of this series can be attributed to its unique storyline, which featured time-travel elements and high school gangsters.

The highly-anticipated Tokyo Revengers Season 2 has finally started streaming exclusively on Hulu in the US and on Disney and Disney+ in other countries. 

The first episode was released on January 7 and the upcoming episode 2 is slated to be released on January 15. Season 2 will have around 13 episodes.

Before you dive into season 2, let’s have a quick recap of all the events that happened in season 1.

The first season of Tokyo Revengers covered nearly 77 chapters of the manga and featured many events and battles. However, we will focus on only the major turning points of the story in this recap.

1. Toman arc

Takemichi, a NEET, finds out that his middle school girlfriend, Hina, and her younger brother, Naoto, have died due to some incident related to the Tokyo Manji gang.

However, he travels back 12 years in the past after getting pushed back in front of the train. He even manages to save Naoto.

Finally, Takemichi also catches the attention of Mikey, the leader of the Tokyo Manji Gang, and Draken, the vice leader.

He travels back to the present to discover that Akkun, his friend, had pushed him in front of the train on the orders of Kisaki. Akkun then kills himself.

Naoto and Takemichi resolve to save Draken from dying in the Tokyo Manji gang vs Moebius gang battle.

2. Moebius arc

Takemichi and Naoto meet Osanai, the former leader of Moebius in the present. He tells them that the infighting between Tokyo Manji was triggered by their fight against Moebius.

Tokyo Manji goes against Moebius despite Takemichi’s protests, and Osanai gets stabbed by Pah-chin in the process.

Later on, Takemichi’s date with Hina during a festival is interrupted when he finds out that Draken is in danger. He manages to save Draken from Moebius members, but Draken is stabbed by a bitter Kiyomasu anyway.

Takemichi takes revenge for Draken, and thankfully, Draken is saved. 

3. Valhalla arc

The last arc of Season 1 begins with Takemichi traveling back to the present and finding out that Hinata has been saved. But then she’s killed by his friend Akkun, who hits her car with a truck.

Takemichi also finds out that Draken is on death row. Draken confesses to them that Kisaki had been manipulating Mikey, and that he should have killed him when he had a chance.

Takemichi goes back in time and finds out that Mikey has made Kisaki the captain of the third division. Meanwhile, Baji, the first division captain, leaves Tokyo Manji and joins Valhalla.

It’s revealed later on that Baji joined Valhalla to expose Kisaki, who’s the true leader of Valhalla. Mikey and the rest of the Tokyo Manji members try to fight Valhalla to get Baji back. 

But instead, Baji gets stabbed by Kazutora. A furious Mikey beats up Kazutora, but Baji stabs himself again to prevent Kazutora from going to jail.

Takemichi finally becomes an official member of the Tokyo Manji Gang at the end of season 1.

Tokyo Revengers Season 2 expected plot

The second season will cover only the Christmas Showdown arc since the season will have only 13 episodes. The Christmas Showdown arc, also called the Black Dragon arc, is deemed one of the most exciting arcs in the series.

Takemichi will face one of the most dangerous gangs named Black Dragon in the second season. Takemichi will also find out that the decisions he has taken in the past have led to a wildly different outcome altogether.

However, the main focus will be on the relationship between Taiju, Black Dragon’s leader, and his brother Hakkai, who’s also the vice-captain of the second division of Tokyo Manji Gang.

Tokyo Revengers is a manga written and illustrated by Ken Wakui. It began serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine on March 1, 2017, and ended its run in November 2022. It is compiled into 31 tankobon volumes.

The story revolves around Takemichi Hanagaki, who learned that Tokyo Manji Gang had killed his only ex-girlfriend from back in middle school. After learning about the incident, Takemichi was pushed from the railway platform.

Landing on the tracks, he closed his eyes, accepting his death, but when he opened his eyes, he had time-leaped 12 years into the past.
