Episode 22 was surely an emotional rollercoaster as it showed us flashbacks of Baji’s past. From the formation of the Toman gang to meeting Chifuyu for the first time, it perfectly portrayed what an amazing person Baji was.
His tragic death somewhat prevented Toman from falling apart and ended the rivalry between Kazutora and Mikey. Well, I still believe that Baji’s life was too high a price for saving someone like Kazutora.

Episode 23 Preview & Speculation
Episode 20, titled ‘End of War,’ will be a lot light-hearted compared to the last few episodes. In the preview, Draken invites Takemichi to his place, where he makes a surprising discovery.
Takemichi and Hinata are seen investigating something. I think they are observing the growing relationship between Emma and Draken. The upcoming episode will also give us a hint on Kisaki’s next plan to take over Toman.

Episode 22 Recap
Episode 22 shows us flashbacks of the day when the Tokyo Manji gang was formed. It was Baji who came up with the idea of establishing a gang where the members can trust on each other with their lives.
It didn’t take them long since Baji has already decided the positions that the six of them will hold in the gang. His initial motive was to protect Kazutora and others from threats like the Black Dragon gang.
Later, they collected their pocket money to buy a holy charm to bring good luck to their newly formed gang. Mikey entrusted Baji with the charm and asks him to keep it safe.
Back to the present, Mikey sheds tears seeing that Baji has kept that charm with him all these days. He realizes that Baji’s sacrifice will go in vain if he kills Kazutora now, so he leaves.
Meanwhile, Kazutora decides to stay with Baji’s dead body since he is the one who triggered this chaos. There’s no way in which Kazutora can ask for Mikey’s forgiveness, so he bows down before him as he left.
The next scene shows us flashbacks from the day when Baji met Chifuyu for the first time. Back then, Chifuyu was an arrogant brat who thought he could rule Tokyo, but he decided to be nice towards an introverted guy who struggles to spell the simplest words.
Little did he knew that the boring guy with old-fashioned spectacles is actually the squad captain of the Tokyo Manji gang. He saved Chifuyu when he was getting beaten up by a gang of high schoolers.
Later, he took Chifuyu to his home, where they shared a pack of peyoung. Now you know why Baji talked about sharing a peyoung in his final moments.

Tokyo Revengers is a manga written and illustrated by Ken Wakui. It began serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine on March 1, 2017, and ended its run in November 2022. It is compiled into 31 tankobon volumes.
The story revolves around Takemichi Hanagaki, who learned that Tokyo Manji Gang had killed his only ex-girlfriend from back in middle school. After learning about the incident, Takemichi was pushed from the railway platform.
Landing on the tracks, he closed his eyes, accepting his death, but when he opened his eyes, he had time-leaped 12 years into the past.
