What will you do if you had the means to time travel? Will you prevent tragedies or go back in time to meet your loved ones?
For our squad of time travelers in Tatami Galaxy, these higher aspirations are lofty compared to the aim of fixing the broken remote to the air conditioner. Such is the tale of this upcoming quirky animation.
Through the official website of the Tatami Galaxy, Kadokawa announced that the series would be receiving an anime sequel titled ”Yojohan Time Machine Blues” based on the namesake novel by Tomihiko Morimi. The website also revealed a visual, teaser, and staff details.
The poster features the lead character Akashi standing in the center with her arms representing clock hands against the backdrop. In the background, we can see various characters like the unnamed protagonist and his friend Ozu, samurai suit-clad Mr. Higuchi, and dentist Mrs. Hanuki.
Overall the visual neatly embodies the quirky spirit of the series.
The teaser screams everything weird yet memorable about the 2010s Tatami Galaxy anime series. From its psychedelic art style to its over-the-top monologues by voice actor Shintaro Asanuma, this video is sure to hit you with nostalgia if you watched the original series.
According to Tomihiko Morimi, the 2005 live-action spinoff of his novel “Summer Time Machine Blues” inspired the much-awaited sequel to the original Tatami Galaxy novel.

The story of Yojohan Time Machine Blues starts with Ozu breaking the remote to the air conditioner one sultry afternoon. Suddenly, an unknown person from the future appears while the protagonist is sent to the past to retrieve the remote in working condition.
Unlike the original Tatami Galaxy anime, which explored concepts such as multiverse, the upcoming sequel will be the first to explore time travel. It will be interesting to see a new concept with favorite old characters.
So don’t miss out on the upcoming series!
