New Teaser for ‘The First Slam Dunk’ Film Focuses on Kaede Rukawa

Slam Dunk may have ended years ago, but its legacy and fan following live on to this day. The franchise has a staunch fan base who refuse to put the series down from the pedestal, and rightfully so.

The story is packed with some amazing characters, but one of them has always stuck out from the others. You guessed it right. I’m talking about none other than Kaede Rukawa, Shohoku High’s #11.

A new short promo video for the upcoming film ‘The First Slam Dunk’ focuses on Kaede Rukawa and his playing style during a match. The film will open in Japan on December 3, 2022.

Rukawa’s cold and no-bullshit attitude has made many swoon and go crazy over him, regardless of their gender and orientation. Now the ace of Shohoku High is back to do the same for a new generation of otakus.

As seen in the video, Rukawa is only serious about one thing: basketball. He is in a completely different zone when on the court with a ball in his hand, and only a few can stop him from scoring.

The trailer shows someone blocking Rukawa’s dunk, something not many can do, considering he’s the ace. However, there’s one team that holds the ability to stop Rukawa at the last minute.

That team would be Sannoh High, the national defending champion for three years from Akita prefecture. Later in the story, Shohoku does indeed beat Sannoh, but not without some losses and struggles.

Considering that the film is based on the original manga, they might cover the most important battles of Shohoku, including the one with Sannoh.

Slam Dunk is one of the finest sports anime and manga ever made, so it’s only natural for otakus to have a strong love for it. One can only imagine how crazy it will get when the film comes out next month.

I hope you have already pre-booked your tickets for this one.
