Next week, in the final episode of this season, we will see Shadow battle against the calamity, the Archfiend Ragnarok. We are finally introduced to one of the higher-ups of the Cult of Diablos. Seeing his position in the organization, it can be easily said that he’s no weak opponent. No matter how strong Shadow might be, fighting the Ragnarok and this formidable foe at once will be a challenge even for him.
We might see Rose Oriana teaming up with Victoria and the seven shadows to take on Mordred, the Ninth seat of Rounds. Given that it is the last episode, they can finish the fight here or end it on a cliffhanger. If the fight is finished, there’s a good chance we’ll get some crucial information about the cult, but if it’s not, we’ll just have to wait for the next season.
3. Recap of Episode 11
After talking with Rose as Cid, Shadow realizes that for his plans to succeed, he has to save the queen who is being held hostage. He was thinking all this while being aided by Margaret in the guest room. Epsilon joins them after her performance. As the two ladies start fighting over Shadow, he makes his escape.
Later, while talking with Epsilon, Shadow finds out about the “Black Rose”. He takes it for an actual black rose and tells Epsilon that he needs to see the real thing. Once the discussion is over, he starts scouting the palace to figure out how to save the queen.
While doing this, he finds out the truth behind this conspiracy. The queen was never being held hostage, and the duke just defiled her using her own selfish desires. Shadow realizes that if he can uncover this truth to Rose, the fire of rebellion will spark in her again.
That night, Shadow visits Rose in her room and brings her along with him to show what’s actually going on behind the scenes. After knowing everything Rose throws up in disgust and loses consciousness from the shock. When the crushing weight of reality is destroying her will, Shadow visits her again as Cid.
After giving Rose the courage she needs, he leaves, but the key to the “Black Rose”, the ring, accidentally gets left behind. Shadow goes for a bath where he notices that the ring is missing. Being unaware of the ring’s value, Shadow simply ignores it.
On the wedding day, the duke finally realizes the key is missing. He has lost the ring. Just when he is panicking about it, the one who has been pulling the strings is introduced. Mordred, the Knight Beyond Men, the Ninth seat of Rounds, is the one from whom the duke took orders. He tells him that once the ceremony is over, their plans will have succeeded.
In the wedding hall, Rose walks down the aisle in a wedding dress to where the duke is. As the priest continues the wedding, the duke still searches for the ring. During the wedding vows, Rose denies the wedding and unsheathes her sword against “Perv Asshat”.
She wears the ring on her ring finger, saying it was a gift from the one she truly loves. Something magical happens as soon as the ring, the key, comes into contact with Rose. It starts playing the recording from the former king, who disclosed the crimes of the duke.
As “Perv Asshat” screams at the guards to arrest Rose, everyone turns their backs on him. Suddenly, blood splatters everywhere as his head goes flying off of his body. Before anyone could understand what happened, the queen gets beheaded, too.
Mordred finally makes his debut as he appears on the stage. He activates the “Black Rose”, now that Rose has activated the key. He calls upon a calamity, the “Archfiend Ragnarok”. As soon as the monster appears, it wreaks havoc on the kingdom of Oriana. Shadow steps into the battlefield, too, and cuts off one of the monster’s arms.

The Eminence in Shadow, a manga by Daisuke Aizawa, started serialization in 2018. It is scheduled to receive an anime in October 2022. An anime film, titled ‘The Eminence in Shadow: Lost Echoes,’ was announced in December 2023.
Cid, the protagonist, is obsessed with becoming a hidden mastermind. Being reincarnated in an isekai world gives him the chance to act on his wishes and build up his power beyond the notice of people.
After rescuing an elf, he forms a squad who are supposed to fight the Diabolos cult which is just a figment of his imagination. However, the cult turns out to be true and now he actually has an enemy to face.
