Season 1 of The Detective Is Already Dead follows the crime-solving duo Siesta and her assistant Kimizuka Kimihiko as they embark on death-defying adventures to save lives and defeat criminals.
But after three years of solving mysteries, Siesta mysteriously dies. Her death affects Kimihiko and her other friends.
It has been a year since Siesta died yet Kimihiko still lives with the guilt of her death. In season two, Kimihiko and his friends tackle new cases and hope to find clues to revive Siesta back to life.
Release Date
No official release date has been confirmed for season 2 of ‘The Detective is Already Dead’. The previous season was streamed by Netflix, Crunchyroll, and, Funimation.
A renewed season could also be available on these sites with 12 full episodes. That’s something I am ready to lose my sleep for.

In the trailer posted along with the announcement, the recurring main voice cast can be heard narrating their monologues and Siesta recalling how Kimihiko and her had met. The trailer ends with Siesta telling the audience that she likes happy endings.

Season 2 Plot
Since no official news has been released for season 2, we can only speculate on what plot it may follow. Season 1 of ‘The Detective is Already Dead’ covers the first two light novels in the series.
A total of 6 volumes have been published since 2019. There is a chance season 2 could follow like its predecessors and adapt from the next two light novels, or they could adopt more than two light novels.
Some of the storylines season 2 could follow is Nagisa’s history with Siesta along with Siesta’s complete backstory. They could also introduce Mia Whitlock in season 2.

Written by Nigojū and Umibōzu, The Detective Is Already Dead (Tantei wa Mō, Shindeiru) is a light novel series that follows Kimihiko Kimizuka, a third-year high school student and former assistant of a detective named Siesta.
He made Siesta’s acquaintance three years ago, 10,000 meters above the ground in a hijacked plane. The two went on one death-defying adventure after another for three years that eventually ended with Siesta’s untimely death.
In the present day, Kimihiko tries his best to reintegrate himself back into normal life.
