3. Quick Review

I. Story and Characters

Paranoia Agent is an anime about how people perceive the world around them.

It’s about how they create little fantasies in their heads to hang on to their sanity in times of extreme distress.

It shows how people could go insane if they discard reality altogether and that it is more common than you think in urban society.

Everyone sees the world as they please, but sometimes this could blur the line between fantasy and reality, and it is this world that Paranoia Agent perfectly depicts.

The characters change with every episode with some recurring ones. All of them have some sort of a mental ailment or a delusional or under heavy stress.

Some of them commit filthy crimes and somehow justify it to themselves to get rid of guilt. The characters are extremely complex and memorable in their own ways.

II. Animation and Sound

Each episode is told from the point of view of different characters, which drastically changes the animation in more than one way.

This change indicates how the perception of each character changes, which is perfectly done through the animation.

The animation illustrated each of the emotions, insanity, and perspectives of every character in a way that might be confusing at first.

Still, as you dive deeper, you would understand why the animation changed the way it did.

The soundtrack is not especially melodious or catchy. Still, it is successful in instilling a feeling of dread and despair in the audience, which is necessary for the plot.
