‘The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases’ may feel like another reincarnation story of a hero. What makes it stand out is that the hero does not want to reclaim his glory. He wants to live a regular life in someplace remote.
Unfortunately, it turns out to be a long road as he continues to face monsters on his way. Thus, his heroic journey continues, even though he does not wish for it.
On Tuesday, the official website for ‘The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases’ announced an anime adaptation, revealing the main staff members. The website was launched on the same day and revealed the teaser visual.
The visual above shows the main character Allen, wielding his sword and walking across an open field. The sun rises behind him, suggesting a new phase of life after he was exiled from home.
There is not much information about the voice cast, except for one name. Shōta Aoi will voice Allen. Aoi is known for portraying Yu-yu Kondo in ‘Cardfight!! Vanguard overDress’ and Gerald Stewart in ‘My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!’.
‘The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases’ light novels are written by Shin Kozuki and illustrated by Chocoan. It tells the story of a man who remembers his past life as a hero but was not blessed with any gift when he reached adulthood. He is looked down upon by everyone as a failure and disowned by his family.
Chocoan, the illustrator for light novels, shared an artwork in the wake of the announcement.

As of now, the story has not appealed much to me. There is nothing that makes Allen a memorable character. The plot setting is not unique enough either, so it all comes down to the progression and character development which could lift it.

‘The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases’ is a light novel series by Shin Kozuki and illustrated by Chocoan. An anime television series adaptation produced by Studio Deen and Marvy Jack is set to premiere in April 2024.
Allen remembers his past life as a hero. Although he was looked at as a genius in his childhood, he did not receive a blessing when he became an adult. Since then, he began to be looked down upon as a failure by his noble family and others and eventually exiled. Allen decides to live a peaceful and normal life this time.
