In episode 24, titled “The Aquatope on White Sand,” Kukuru and Fuuka take a step closer towards their goal in life. Kukuru becomes a caretaker while still working in the sales department.
Some of her colleagues even comment on her hard work, going as far as assuming that Kukuru might take over as the aquarium director in the future.
Fuuka returns to Tingarla after studying for two years in Hawaii. She participated in a training conducted for setting up a new research team, studying sea-life.
How will the two girls contribute towards the welfare of sea life? We’ll find out when the anime receives a new season.

In the latest episode, we saw how both Kukuru and Fuuka matured and obtained a clearer picture of the future. Kukuru finally takes on the role of a caretaker but manages to stay active in sales.
Fuuka has been selected for becoming one of the two members of the new research team at Tingarla and goes to Hawaii for her training. She reunites with Kukuru, happy to see both of their growth.
The Aquatope on White Sand was a beautiful slice-of-life anime that made its place in many viewers’ hearts. Since this was an original anime, it doesn’t have source material for another season, but it might make a comeback because the anime was quite popular.

Episode 24 Recap
The episode begins with Kukuru having a dream about Gama Gama, where she visits the aquarium with her family. She wakes up to her alarm ringing and soon meets up with Fuuka and tells her about her dream. Before heading towards Tingarla, they stop by the forest to make an offering to the Kijimunaa.
They then reach Tingarla, where various preparations are being made for a wedding. They unload the new fish into the white sand dome and make customized wedding invitations. Kukuru also replicates the welcome boards from Gama Gama at the bride’s request.
The wedding day arrives, and with the help of all the staff, everything goes smoothly. After the wedding, the aquarium opens up for the public, and Kai, Rui, Maho, and Tsukimi visit them. Kuruku’s grandparents also visit her and feel proud of her growth.
Kukuru asks her grandfather if he had any problems when he worked at Gama Gama. His grandfather replies that he had plenty of issues, but they all served as a great learning experience. He tells her that she’ll never know what she’s going to figure out from something until later.
Kukuru expresses how confused she feels at Tingarla and constantly debates her decision to stay at the sales department. Her grandfather comforts her and advises her to let the path she chooses become the right one instead of the other way round.
After everyone leaves, Kukuru and Fuuka enjoy each other’s company for the last time before Fuuka’s departure for Hawaii. The two envision their future and promise to be better versions of themselves when they meet again.
We then cut to two years later. Kukuru is now a caretaker while still working in the sales department. She’s so dedicated and hardworking that everyone believes that she’s the next in line for the position of director.
Fuuka and Kaoru are returning from Hawaii after training. The entire staff prepares and decorates the aquarium, welcoming them. Fuuka gets off their taxi to meet Kukuru at their favorite spot.
As the two run towards their tree, they’re delighted to be together again. The two girls embrace each other and take a step towards a brighter future.
About The aquatope on the white sand
The aquatope on the white sand is an upcoming anime television series produced by P.A.Works.It is scheduled to release in July 2021.
The anime takes place at Gama Gama Aquarium. Kukuru Misakino is an 18-year-old high school student who works there, and she knows about the “secret” of the aquarium: sometimes you can see mysterious things.
One day Kukuru meets Fuuka, standing in front of a water tank with flowing hair and a tear rolling down her cheek. Fuuka has given up on her dream of becoming an idol and she has run away from Tokyo to Okinawa.
Wanting to find a place to belong, Fuuka earnestly asks to work at the aquarium.
