The next addition to the Sword Art Online franchise will be an anime adaptation of Sword Art Online: Progressive. Sword Art Online: Progressive is a light novel series by Reki Kiwahara.
The tweet also announced the opening of a new official website for the upcoming series. It also revealed a short trailer for Sword Art Online: Progressive.
Asuna is first seen in the trailer. She takes us to a time before she and Kirito were trapped in the online game. It opens with the date 6/11/2022 and goes on to show Asuna in the real world.
A visual has also been released for the upcoming anime. It shows Asuna in front of the Aincrad castle. However, she is not in her signature battle wear.
Sword Art Online: Progressive Plot
SAO: Progressive is the reboot version of the SAO series, where we are taken back to the past.
Asuna gets trapped in the virtual world while she was playing by chance. She has to overcome her fear and troubles to become the Asuna that we know.
Kirito can also be seen at the beginning of his journey, where both attempt to climb the Aincrad.
