Haikyuu is in its final arc, with the new re-structured Haikyuu!! The Top series. A major time-skip occurred after chapter 369, which saw our favorite high-school volleyball stars transition to young adults.
Haikyuu is the go-to sports anime series for fans around the world. Everyone has their own dream team of Haikyuu but some names did come out to be common among these teams.
This difference in opinion led us to this question – Who are the top 10 Liberos in Haikyuu?
10Shinji Watari, Aobajohsai High
Watari has above-average receiving skills as a libero and some of his techniques like setting the ball from the back row justifies his previous role as a setter.
He is very confident when it comes to setting the ball. His challenging and loving personality, and humble behavior among the group are what sealed his spot in this list.
9Michinari Akagi, Inarizaki High
Akagi has excellent eye contact with his blockers. This quality makes him a genius at receiving and digging. His quick and sharp reflexes are at par with one of the best. It’s not common to see someone saving the ball using his foot from the end line of the court. He deserved his spot in this list due to this godlike agility.
8Kazuteru Akiu, Wakutani South High
With an inverted colored jersey from the rest of his team, triangle-shaped side buns and arched eyebrows, Akiu is one of the tallest liberos in the game.
His stamina and speed are on par with Akagi but he lacks power. Nonetheless, not someone you won’t want in your team.
7Haruma Bishin, Mujinazaka High
Being able to receive serves from Bokuto is no joke and Bishin handles it well. He stands tall at the back with his serious face and should not be taken lightly.
6Keichiro Kanbayashi, Kamomedai High
With his contrasting Black jersey and kneepads, Kanbayashi stands tall and plays like a regular libero for his team.
He is relatively good at receiving. He caught everyone’s attention when he efficiently dug on one of Asahi’s serves.
5Hayato Yamagata, Shiratorizawa Academy
Hayato is someone who loves a challenge. His raging aggression in-game puts him in mood and makes him one of the most aggressive liberos of the game.
He loves teaching his juniors and is one hell of a mentor. Shiratorizawa does not accept anyone with below-par skills so his being a regular in Shiratorizawa proves his worth for being in this list.
4Haruki Komi, Fukurodani Academy
Komi enjoys being in the game as much as Yamagato. This energetic and outspoken chap can dismantle an opponent’s hopes with his words. He is very brave when it comes to challenges.
He is one dude who will lift the whole team’s morale when needed. His digging skills are not great but all other things are what make him a complete team player and a worthy addition to this list.
3Morisuke Yaku, Nekoma High
Yaku takes great pride in playing as a libero for his team and is highly admired for his skills. He is highly loyal to his team and plays with full honor. His team is known for its powerful defense and Yaku does play a great role in that. Just like Yamagato, he is really supportive of his team.
Yaku was able to receive Asahi’s strong spikes in his first confrontation with him which was quite shocking for any fan. Yaku keeps moving on the court and his moves are highly unpredictable which makes him a highly skilled and deceiving player of the game.
2Yu Nishinoya, Karasuno High
He should not be taken lightly due to his short height because he is one of the best, if not the best liberos of the game. Nishinoya is also known as “the Guardian Diety” of Karasuno. He is one of those short yet muscular sportsmen who would work hard day and night to be the best.
Although having a crazy nature, he is still considerably mature towards his teammates.
He has unparalleled skills in defense. He is literally the god of defense, as referred to by his captain. He is highly admired by Yaku for having his ultra-fast reflexes and flexible limbs. He can do the impossible.
1Motoya Kamori, Itachiyama Academy
Kamori is the tallest libero of the game and with his thick, round eyebrows, he looks like a serious player. Komori was even invited to the All-Japan Youth Intensive Training Camp which many people can only dream of.
He has also been featured in Volleyball Monthly as the #1 high school libero.
Hinata Shoyo is a highly passionate boy who wishes to follow the steps of his idol, ‘The Little Giant’, in volleyball. Hinata’s resolve is unbreakable as he faces gruesome defeat at the hands of the ‘King of the Court,’ a genius prodigy setter Kageyama Tobio in middle school.
Hinata’s dreams take fruit as he enters high school. Hinata joins the declining volleyball team of Karasuno High and is appalled to find the very same Kageyama as his teammate.
As Kageyama and Hinata realize the potential of their abilities as a duo, Karasuno High starts taking flight with the opportunities at hand. The story follows the revival of Karasuno High and the unity they maintain to pave their way for nationals.
