Smallville is finally joining the Arrowverse

Tom Welling, the fine actor who played Clark Kent in Smallville, will be reprising his iconic take on the character in the upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earth mega-crossover.

For the people who don’t know, Crisis on Infinite Earth is an upcoming crossover event for the DC characters in the Arrowverse. Based on the iconic 1985 comic book event by Marv Wolfman and George Perez, the story focuses on heroes from across the DC multiverse teaming up to save the entirety of existence. Also, Welling played Clark Kent on Smallville for ten years and a huge share of the show’s success goes to him.

We all hoped for Tom Welling appearing in the Crisis event but those hopes crashed when Welling himself denied his presence in the Crisis and said no one had contacted him about this. But in the light of recent events The Executive producer said this. The news was revealed earlier this morning, with producer Marc Guggenheim releasing the following statement:

” For eight years, Arrow has stood on the shoulders of Smallville. Simply put, there would be no Arrow, and no Arrowverse, without it. So when we first started talking about Crisis on Infinite Earths, our first, second and third priorities were getting Tom to reprise his iconic role as Clark Kent. To say that we’re thrilled would be a Superman-sized understatement. “

Unfortunately, we don’t have any details locked down on his role and plot in the show. CW is very secretive when it comes to plots and storylines (sure they are learning from Marvel on hiding things).

We know that Kevin Conroy is finally playing Batman in live-action, Burt Ward will be back as an older Robin and Brandon Routh is suiting up as the Man of Steel after playing a role in Superman Returns.

How many Supermans are going to appear in the Crisis Event?

Tom Welling is not the first Superman in the Crisis. He is the third after Tyler Hoechlin and Brandon Routh. Tyler Hoechlin will be reprising as the Superman appearing in the Supergirl CW show, and Brandon Routh will return as the Superman version he played in 2006’s Superman Returns.

Where are we heading with the Crisis Event coming up?

The scope of this event is genuinely multiversal and it’s taking shape as the biggest crossover event( After Avengers: Endgame of course). There are still many casting secrets and apparently many surprises are lined up, so we have to wait until the Crisis arrives in December this year. The Infinite Crisis event will begin on December 8 and will conclude on January 14.
